Description
Host and NASM Master Instructor Rick Richey is joined by a special guest Dr. Mallory Fox CPT, CES, PES, FNS, WFS. The two discuss the blending of mindfulness practices with exercise to build stress resilience. To be mindful means we focus our attention on the present moment without judgment.
By practicing mindfulness, the goal is to cultivate the ability to be present to internal thoughts, feelings, stresses, and sensations. This skill helps improve health metrics like blood pressure and heart rate and reduces stress. But how can we do this when we have app notifications, work, family, emails, and a new way of living since the spread of COVID-19?
Even if we have the phones turned off, we might feel the urge to stay plugged in. Watch the video to see how we can all find some inner peace amid this stressful world we all live in.

Overactive and Underactive Muscles Part 2: Excessive Forward Lean and Low Back Arch:
You asked for it – you got it! This is part two of three episodes where the topic of over- and underactive muscles will be discussed. This episode will cover two common movement compensations in the overhead squat assessment:

Excessive Forward Lean

Low Back Arch (Anterior Pelvic Tilt)

Listen for a review of short muscles that lead to this compensation and lengthened muscles that allow the compensations to occur. These episodes are anatomy heavy and may help the listener better understand functional anatomy. Functional anatomy helps listeners better understand how muscles can contribute to movement compensation and dysfunction. The outcomes may provide a better implementation of exercise preparation AND maybe, just maybe, help you if you're studying for an exam… ;-)

Get 20% off your order now by calling 800-460-6276 or visiting <a by The NASM-CPT Podcast With Rick Richey
