Description
In the eighth episode of Sessions - a NEW series on the Food Freedom/Body Love podcast where you get to listen in on 1:1 conversations between Jill and those struggling with food, body image, weight, and health - Jill talks with an intuitive eating practitioner whose work focuses on those transitioning through menopause. As she coaches other to eat intuitively and accept their aging, changing bodies - she is confronted with her own feelings about her aging, changing body. She wonders if working on her own relationship with food and body will ever end and - if it doesn't - should she be coaching others on their journey?
In this episode, we discuss:
Imposter Syndrome - what is it and why does it show up?
The ongoing work of body acceptance and trust in food in ourselves as practitioners, as we help other
When your own body fears are triggered by those you work with
Why lived experience is as important as education, how it helps you relate to those you work with
When things feel hard - checking back in with WHY we decided to do this work in the first place
Managing the vestiges of diet culture that live within us
Why it's important to understand our place in this movement, while amplifying the work and messages of those who've come before us.
TW: All of these sessions are recorded live and only moderately edited - numbers (weight, calories, etc) may come up as well as the "O" words (overweight, obese) and the mention of specific diet plans or food philosophies. It's the nature of working 1:1 in this way. Please listen only if these topics aren't triggering for you. Also - these sessions are designed to educate and entertain. They are not prescriptive. If you are struggling with food and body image issues, you should reach out to your primary care provider for individual advice before self-diagnosing or treating.
