About this ebook

Shandunka, is a man apart. He is a man torn between the world of the white settlers where he was born, and the world of the Paiute tribe who kidnapped him as a child, and made him one of their own. He never truly fit into either and was considered an outcast in both worlds. Because of this, he suffered greatly in his life. But Shandunka

has the spirit of a warrior and despite his circumstances, endured and even thrived.

After having tracked down Little Cub's killers, Shandunka scalps and kills them all. In doing so, he avenges Little Cub and hopes to finally regain his own lost honor. However, Shandunka is caught by Sheriff Pat Bolton, the brother of one of Little Cub's killers. He is almost killed, but Lewis Clearview, intervenes. Clearview is the leader of a group of Quakers who wish to migrate to California. This chance meeting will lead Shandunka on another set of harrowing adventures. Here he meets the siblings Sally and Alex Hayes, and Clearview's bodyguard, Alex Winston. They will all get involved in Shandunka's trials, including a showdown with Bolton himself, a cougar, and several Apache warriors. If he survives all of this, he can regain the honor he lost when he allowed Little Cub to be killed. If he survives and endures he can finally return to his tribe with the scalps of Little Cub's killers.

A Man Apart - No Mercy - John J. Law

Chapter One: A Demon Straight Out of Hell

It had been some days since Kenny Bolton had gotten good sleep recently. The young man just could not sleep well because of the past events that had happened. The memory of the bank robbery at Aldridge was still fresh in his mind. He could still remember how eager he was before it all happened. He was the one who pitched the job to their gang leader, Wedge Wilson. Kenny was the one who told them when to hold the bank up, when his brother the sheriff wouldn't be around. He was also the one who mentioned that there would be a lot of money to rob on that day.

When they didn't make as much as they expected from the robbery, Kenny was even more frustrated than the other gang members. This was because it was Kenny who was the only member of the gang who had been outed that day. The bandana covering his face had slipped, and one of the depositors had recognized him.

Kenny could still remember the shock and horror that came over him when he realized that he had been recognized. He could still see the look on the old depositor's face when he saw him. It was a look that had both shock and recognition. And it would be the last time the depositor and everyone else in the bank every looked at anyone again.

Kenny joined Wedge and the other gang members in shooting indiscriminately at everyone in the bank. They did not leave a single soul alive in the establishment, so no one could identify Kenny.

This massacre was something of a shocking experience for Kenny, and it wouldn't be the last one in the job. He didn't expect the job to be that bloody. Kenny had basically expected the gang to just walk all over the bank and get the money. He expected little to no problems. Kenny didn't expect them to massacre everyone in the bank on his account.

They managed to ride off with the money before

any posse was organized, but it wasn't the end of the job. When they retreated to their hideout deep in the woods, an Indian boy stumbled on to them. They were again forced to kill the boy to keep the location of their hideout a secret. Kenny and most of the other gang members didn't like this idea, considering that this was just a little boy. Still, they killed him, along with 2 Indians who were there. The two Indians were killed in apparently gruesome fashion by Wedge Wilson, using lit dynamite that blew up while the Indians were tied up. Or at least that was what Kenny Bolton thought.

I don't like this one bit, Roger! We were supposed to get some kind of confirmation about our next job. Nobody's contacted us yet and it's been a week and a half!

Kenny Bolton could not hide his anxiety from Roger
