PREFACE

This book is a compilation of a series of messages taught by brother Zach in the church in Yaoundé on Sunday the 17th of August 1997. The author opens our eyes to the fact that the forces that determine history fall into two categories which are blessings and curses. Some people are operating under a curse, while others are operating under a blessing.

Blessing is a supernatural force working to promote you and to advance you.

When you are operating under a blessing, you rise to heights totally beyond any logical explanation of your talents, your gifts, and your abilities. On the other hand, a curse is an invisible force that frustrates you. An invisible force which is there to make you to be left out. A curse is as if you have an invisible enemy standing on your way. It’s as if there is an invisible barrier standing in your way. There are some people, who everything they touch goes wrong. Other people may be succeeding but when they get there, it goes wrong. Such people are said to be functioning under a curse.

The author further explains that, blessings and curses belong to the invisible. Blessings and curses are vehicles of supernatural spiritual power. Blessings produce good and beneficial results, while curses produce bad and harmful results.

We send this book out with a heart cry that as you read it, you may be able to identify whether you are acting under a curse and cooperate with God for it to be broken. On the other hand, knowing that you are functioning under a blessing would help you to in a conscious way cooperate with God to continue abiding in His blessing.

CURSES

Some people are operating under a curse. Others are operating under a blessing. Do you know? There are some people who are always victims of an outbreak of a disease. Each new disease attacks them. There are some people who violate all the health laws. Nonetheless, they are attacked by no disease. Others observe all the laws but take ill. Under a curse, you keep all the laws of health yet fall sick. Don’t you know people who are always conscious of dirt, always careful about matters of personal health. They are selective about everything they eat but they are always sick. One then asks, What’s the use of all the precautions?

For some people, everything they touch goes wrong. Whatever they touch goes wrong. Other people may be succeeding but when the latter get into the same project, all goes wrong. Everybody finds favour; when they get there, things change. In the course of paying people in a queue, when it is the turn of the person before them, the money runs out; when they get to you, the money gets finished. The cashier then announces, Come back tomorrow. Everybody’s money goes to his bank account, that person’s own money goes to some account very far, in another part of the country.

You look at him, very handsome; he seems to have everything, but this girl says, No! to him. That girl says, No! And the next girl says, No! You look at her, she looks so beautiful but the eyes of people are turned away from her. You look at yourself in the mirror and you say, I’m beautiful. You look at your character and you say, It’s good. But when it comes to marriage, uglier girls are preferred with more questionable characters. You are just there; you don’t know what you should do to add to yourself.

A curse – the father had a disease, his son had the disease, and his grandson has the disease. A curse – his great-grandfather was poor, his son was poor.

You are told of an item that is selling very fast, when you get there, it is no longer selling. They say a certain business is making profit; when you join it, the business fails. Your things fail in your hands. You cannot explain. You blame people but, finally, when you examine things closely, you know that no one is to be blamed. Each time you go to choose, you choose the wrong thing. When you go to buy things, you buy the ones that will get spoilt or that are already spoilt.

Invisible barriers. It’s as if an invisible force is there to pull you down. It is as if you have an invisible enemy standing on your way. It is as if you are fighting with shadows. Are you fighting with an invisible enemy? It’s as if something is following you to frustrate you. Are you pursued by a force that frustrates you? It is as if there is an invisible barrier standing in your way. It is as if as you walk on someone trips you up.

You were about the best person in your class in secondary school, but somehow, things turned sour for you. In the secondary school, you were very bright, but failed your exams each time. At every stage, something seems to snatch the victory from your lips, from your hands, from you. People who don’t work as hard as you, are not as intelligent as you, are ahead while you are behind. Mediocrities are excelling above you. You see people who are inferior to you in everything, but when it comes to results, they do better than you. You are at the top, then you find yourself at the bottom and you can’t understand how you got there. You are functioning under a curse.

When you are under a curse, even with a lot of care, you can’t tell where your earning go to. You may be very meticulous, but you land in the hands of a woman who is a spendthrift.

You look older than your grandfather.

You like to be honoured by a wife, but you just choose the woman who will ask you, What are you? – the type who will ask, Is it stones you earn as a salary from your job? You treat your wife in a way that a woman ought to say, I’ve landed on a fortune! but the dissatisfaction of your wife makes it look as if she married a criminal. The more you work to please her, the more exasperated she becomes.

When you are operating under a curse, the doctor says that you are healthy enough to bear a child, but no child is forth coming.

You can have blessings and curses operating in the same life because it depends upon the kind of curse. An area of your life could be cursed, and other areas blessed, so that you are a mixture. Then all of it can seem to be just a curse. Or there is just one curse that spreads out so much that it drains your whole life. For example, you could be cursed with a disease so that all of your life is wrapped up under the power of the disease. So there are people who operate as if they were virtually under a blessing, and others operate under a mixture of blessings and curses. For others, all of their beings seem to be cursed. There is a barrier in every domain.

When there are two girls to choose from, they choose the one who will trouble them. When there are two jobs, they choose the one that they will soon lose or that will soon stop paying salaries. There’s always just something to steal their joy. When there are two plots, you buy the one that had been sold before. It’s as if all of it is calculated for you to lose.

Do you see such a thing operating in your life? You may be operating under a curse!!!

But you could also be operating under a blessing. Everything you touch goes well. Wherever you go, doors open. People who are better than you are behind you. People more intelligent than you do not get to where you have reached. You make money beyond logical explanation. You put in three hours and you have what you would have needed thirty hours to get. Even your mistakes are turned into blessings. Your enemies do not see you. People plan evil against you. When they meet you, they change and help you. You are looking for marriage, you have offers that are beyond your accomplishments, beyond your looks, beyond everything. You wonder how such blessing could have come upon you. Whatever you touch is blessed. People who come behind you are blessed. Your father was blessed. Your children are blessed. Even when you have made a total mess of things, they turn out to be a blessing. When you are operating under a blessing, in spite of your clumsiness you succeed. Even your mistakes are turned into a blessing. Supernatural forces seem to be working to promote you, to advance you. Your finances are influenced by a law that cannot be understood but you are just blessed, blessed, blessed. Operating under a blessing, you rise to heights totally beyond any logical explanation of your talents, your gifts, and your abilities. You have health that cannot be explained. You violate the laws of health and go strong. The doctor says you can’t have a child, but you have a child.

Who is operating under that? Whose life is described by what we have just said? Who in all areas of his life is operating under a blessing? Is your life operating under a blessing? Are you operating totally under a blessing? Many people easily identify themselves as operating under a curse than they do under a blessing. It’s a very strange thing, isn’t it? People seem to want the curse. They seem to be more prone to confess being under a curse.

Do you operate under a mixture of blessings and curses?

Are you operating almost virtually under a curse? I think the elders should take note because these are the people who need ministry. If you operate overall under a curse, own up, so that we may confront our responsibility. Who does not know?

I want to say that I am operating under a blessing. And I know people who are operating under blessings but who did not acknowledge it. In spite of all my weaknesses, the things I touch go right. There is only one thing to which I ascribe my success: God’s blessing – no other explanation. The year I went to High School, we still had the Federal Government. It was in 1964. So there was the Regional Government and the Federal Government. The year before, they gave ten federal scholarships to CCAST(Cameroon College of Arts, Science and Technology). That was a lot of money. The year we went in, in the exam I was the thirteenth, and by what I am explaining, they decided to give 13 scholarships. Number thirteen, Fomum. Then they drew the line. It’s because I’m operating under a blessing. If I were operating under a curse, they would have drawn the line at twelve. When you are operating under a blessing, they draw the line after your name. When you are operating under a curse, just before your name they draw the line. There is no logic. Between the thirteenth and the thirteenth person, it’s the same ability, isn’t it? Why did they choose thirteen people? A very odd number. Are you operating under a curse or under a blessing?

Listen, the forces that determine history fall under two categories.

Brethren, when I was in the U. S. this time, I had to confess that the nation was blessed. I crossed a bridge; I think it was about forty km long. America is blessed! Blessed! Blessed! Even the poorest person has abundance. Our missionaries, Calvin and Mary, have just been there for one year. They have two cars paid for in cash. When we were going, I told the person who was taking me there that they had no car. Then soon Calvin drove. I thought he had borrowed somebody’s car. He has a car. His wife has a car and the cars have been paid for. At some place they said, This place is now open for demands for employment, part time or fulltime. There are jobs, brother, there are jobs!! And they pay you every week. Woe betide anybody who does not pay his employees by Friday! I saw roads. As we drove on I was writing. We drove for twelve hours. At the end of the trip, I was strong and I worked the whole night. Food is abundant. There are hotels; you pay $4.00, and you eat as much as you want. You can eat twelve plates of meat, then twelve plates of chicken, then twelve plates of fish, then twelve plates of duck, then all kinds of vegetables and you can serve yourself as many times as you wish. There are all kinds of bread. In fact, there were twelve types of bread. And you can fill a plate, eat it, then fill the second plate, then fill the third plate. Then there are all kinds of drinks: coffee, tea, Coca Cola. America is a blessed nation. You find churches all over. There was a small city with 200 churches, mainly believers. I came to confront what it means
