These messages were given in the church in Yaounde to meet a need. God used them to bless His children and many were enabled to touch Him afresh. We send them out to the Body of Christ with prayer that the Holy Spirit will be glad to use them to minister to some members of the glorious Body of Christ who are discouraged.

INTRODUCTION

The Psalmist said,

The counsel of the Lord stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

PSALM 33:11

The prophet Isaiah said

The Lord of hosts has sworn: As I have planned so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand... For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?"

ISAIAH 14:24-27

The Lord continued to speak by the prophet Isaiah saying,

My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose, calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.

ISAIAH 46:10-11

The prophet Isaiah continues to prophesy,

Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and ungird the loins of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed: I will go before you and level the mountains, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron, I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who call you by your name."

ISAIAH 45:1-3

The Lord continued to speak through the prophet Jeremiah,

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

JEREMIAH 29:11

The Lord has a wonderful plan for you. He has purposed great things for you. Regardless of what you were and what you did as an unbeliever; regardless of the sins you have committed since you believed; regardless of your failure and unfaithfulness of the past; regardless of your having denied Him in the past; regardless of your discouragement in His service; regardless of your backsliding in the past, regardless of your spiritual barrenness; regardless of His proclamation against you... you can still rise and enter in His fullness, for no failure in the past or present needs to be final. You can turn to Him today and He will receive you and work out His great purpose for you. He wants to begin right now. Let Him have His way. You should say to Him, Lord, here I am. Have your way. Lord, grant that Your total purpose to give me a future and a hope will come to pass. Then, turn from your past and rest in His love. He will not throw you away. He will receive you and He will work out His glorious purpose for you.

Amen.

A PERSECUTOR BECOMES AN APOSTLE

What you were and what you did as an unbeliever need not stand in the way of your entering into god’s full purpose for you!

I thank him who has given me strength for this, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful by appointing me to his service, though I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and insulted him; but I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the foremost of sinners; but I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience for an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen

1 TIMOTHY 1:12-17

Saul of Tarsus was a religious Jew. He was a Pharisee. He said of his religion as a Pharisee that,

If any other man thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law a Pharisee, as to zeal a persecutor of the church, as to righteousness under the law blameless.

PHILIPPIANS 3:4-6

Saul of Tarsus was an enemy of the church. He was an enemy of the Lord Jesus. He was a persecutor of the church. About his activity as a persecutor, he himself said,

I persecuted this way to the death.

I bound and delivered to prison both men and women.

I cast my vote against the saints as they were put to death.

I punished them often in all the synagogues.

I tried to make them blaspheme.

In raging fury against them, I persecuted them to foreign cities.

Saul was a man whose hands were red with the blood of the saints. He might have wounded, maimed and blinded some. His past was horrible. Can you imagine it? Looking at this man, one would ask if he could be a candidate for conversion. He was so violently opposed to the way. He was so obviously of the other way - the devil’s way! Many people did not expect that he would ever get saved. Even the apostles were not very hopeful, for when he had been converted and came to Jerusalem,
