Being a disciple of Jesus

Being a disciple of Jesus begins with radical commitment to obey God rather than men in every circumstance. Before pagans, unbelievers, and my family, I will obey God rather than men. Have you resolved to obey Jesus radically under any situation?

But Peter and John replied, Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God (Acts 4:19).

Whether it is difficult or not, we will obey Him. When you are told, Don’t obey; obey, and continue to do so. It is a firm resolution to rather obey God than man.

Are you a disciple?

Salvation is a command; it is obedience to a command.

The whole Christian life is a commitment to obey the commands of Jesus.

He went out again beside the sea; and all the crowd gathered about him, and he taught them. And as he passed on, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office (Mark 2:13–14).

When Jesus called him, Levi stood up (immediate obedience) and followed Jesus.

Until you know you have resolved in your heart to obey Jesus rather than men and rather than your desires, you have not become a disciple of Jesus.

Love For The Lord

My heart is full of gratitude to the Lord who has been pleased to save, build up and establish some of His elect through our instrumentality.

Let us thank the Lord because our Ministry is thirty–one years today.

When I look back, I have functioned in the sovereign choices of God.

I did not choose myself.

The things that are dominant in my life are not the product of the works of man.

It has been God’s doing;

It has been God’s doing.

I want to confess one thing: I love the Lord Jesus Christ.

I love God.

I love God not because of what He has done for me, not because of what I will get.

I find in my heart, love for God, love for God.

So I want us to thank God that in His sovereign way, all by His own doing, He put love in my heart for Him.

There is love in my heart for the Lord.

There is love in my heart for the Lord;

I love the Lord.

If you are asked, What is the motivational force of ZTF’s life? Say, He found in his heart love for God.

And it is that love that has wooed me.

Thank the Lord that He put love for Him in my heart. It was not because of something I did; it was just the grace of God.

"Father, thank You very much for that work that only You could have done:

God is my desire. I desire God. My joy is in being left alone with God, praying at the top of my voice.

I have never known one moment of boredom in God’s presence.

I was in China for ten days. The time went too fast.

I beg you, don’t seek power, seek God. When you have God, you have His power.

Supreme Love Calls For Supreme Sacrifice

Love, when it has matured, begs to give its all.

Love, when it has matured cannot withhold from the object of its love without feeling like breaking.

Time is used not on the basis of its availability, but on the basis of the content of the heart.

A person will give his time to that which is on his heart.

Perfect love is the fruit of perfect sacrifice.

Total love is the fruit of total sacrifice.

Supreme love is the fruit of supreme sacrifice.

Love is perfected by sacrifice.

The place where love for God becomes a flame is where the sacrifice has reached sparking point. When a person’s sacrifice reaches that point, it easily catches fire.

If the supreme sacrifice is maintained, the love is maintained.

If the supreme sacrifice is withdrawn, the love is put out.

If the supreme sacrifice is increased, the love is increased. Love at the pinnacle demands sacrifice at the pinnacle.

Love at the pinnacle demands testing at the pinnacle.

Love at the pinnacle demands suffering at the pinnacle.

Love at the pinnacle demands holiness at the pinnacle.

Jesus’ Separation From The Common

We make Jesus our model of separation from the common.

Inwardly very tough and outwardly very soft.

All other separations from the common may be very tough outwardly.

The Lord Jesus Christ’s Inner man was immovable.

Outwardly, He was easily moved.

We make Him the model.

It is in Him and in His pattern that God’s will is made perfect.

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;

In Him is perfect love, perfect harmony.

In Him is no trace of jealousy, no trace of strife; Lucifer has been thrown out.

In Him is much purity.

I must make the sacrifices I have never made

The missionary course brings me into the fiercest phase of my life. It is closest to far-reaching success.

We are all at the brink of massive expansion, and massive conquest. If we press on with God, the impact will be phenomenal. I must make the sacrifices I have never made. Success will be proportional to sacrifice. Whether we succeed depends on the sacrifices I make and the sacrifices you will have to make.

Only one thing will be known on the way ahead—sacrifice. I say, Woe to every comfort on earth, woe to all earthly comfort.

On every area of my life, I want the word Sacrifice to be stamped so that we will win. And We will win.

If you love me, help me in this domain. If you hate me, offer something else, but I will knock you off.

Because of this and the planting of New Testament Christianity in 200 countries, the knowledge that any failure in my life will be reproduced in one billion lives in 200 countries haunts me.

Any indulgence in my life will be reproduced in one billion lives in 200 countries.

Any self-denial in my life will be reproduced in one billion lives in 200 countries.

Whether or not we succeed in the future will depend on the sacrifice I make. This makes me a very dangerous man with potential either to be a blessing or to be the worst curse.

We are on the threshold of our greatest era, but the same sacrifice will be made by those who believe the vision God has given us, and who have decided to make it their purpose for living. That is how world conquest shall proceed.

Is it too much? It is nothing compared to what the Lord Jesus suffered.

Father, be my helper. The die is cast.

The pathway of the future will be settled.

The 200 countries shall be conquered.

I will contribute all that I must contribute.

A model for the whole world

The third Mercedes car has come to stay ¹.

A letter came from Moses and Esther offering the car to me and the Lord’s work; this one will not be sold. Give the Lord a clap. The windscreen is coming from above.

The Lord’s separation from the common rejected all that did not constitute a model for the whole world.

Anything that cannot be presented as a model for all to imitate (taste not, touch not, handle not) had to drop.

I was thinking today—the things that are left are those that hurt. Things about not eating this or that do not pinch.

But:

not to say anything negative against an absent party,

never to allow a cloud between the Lord and myself,

never to own what the Lord would not have owned,

never to desire what the Lord does not desire,

to work eighteen hours a day,

do three 40-day fasts a year,

undertake three 400-hour prayer crusades, are things that touch the core of a person.

I will give a copy ² to my disciples so that it will help them to do the same. Since this is a model; a model must be followed.

Jesus My Supreme Love

If I am taking Jesus as my supreme love to love Him supremely, then there will be things that must stop immediately and things that must start immediately. All that stands in the way of my relationship with Jesus or that will weaken it should be demolished mercilessly.

The love of God demands time poured on Him excessively. This means loving Jesus totally, supremely—giving Him superlative love unceasingly.

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30).

O for intimacy with You blessed Lord! Please, come and tune my heart to You. Come and weld my heart to You. Oh, come and melt my heart for You for ever, and do so increasingly.

Lord, I abandon the irresponsibility of obeying You when I want. I will obey You at Your command. Lord, all the folly that has characterised my life in the past is done with today.

I make a commitment to be a special lover of Jesus and to love Him excessively and exclusively.

"My precious Lord Jesus, You created me for Yourself and you called me to Yourself. In Your special love for me, You kept me. In addition, You wooed me to Yourself so as to have me to Yourself and for Yourself alone. Lord, it is my special privilege to belong to You in this very special way.

O Lord, this day I give my heart afresh to You. I will love You, I will love You totally. I give You my heart. Be my love, my supreme love. May You find total fulfilment and total enjoyment in me. Precious Lord, please, give me a lover’s love for You. Give me a bridal love for You. Teach me to love You intensely. Grant that I would find my total fulfilment in You and in You alone.

I will obey You, I will seek to please You in everything. My Lord, love for You demands that time be poured on You excessively. I commit myself to pour time on You day and night, to feed my love for You, and to love You in a supreme way,

to love every believer in a supreme way and

to love every lost person in a supreme way,"

because the love of God has conquered us,

because the love of God has possessed us, and

because the love of God has liberated us.

The Most Uncomfortable Version of my Separation From The Common

This is my Separation From the Common,—the most uncomfortable version: In your presence, I endorse it; and it becomes totally applicable from now on. It means that you will not tell me anything negative about anybody who is not present. We shall not discuss absent parties, except praise them.

If someone is planning some malice against me, do not come to tell me unless you bring him along. If God cannot take care of me, know that since last year I have been ready to go home.

Even if you don’t understand, obey

While I was in America, the Lord had told me to take nothing. It was Thanksgiving Day. There were six planes going to Durham. It was good because I had no luggage; so I could take one of those planes. If I had had luggage, I would have gone by standard flight, the OK was only for the afternoon flight the next day. We would have missed the Friday flight. So I want to plead with you to obey what the Lord says to you, even if you don’t understand.

The Lord is supposed to say to us, This is the way; walk in it. Dynamic encounters were meant to be times when the Lord says: This is my way, walk in it. Could I plead with you? If I tell you to do something and God tells you to do something else, go and do what God tells you.

Even in Paris, I was told that my luggage would have remained in France. I had not been checked in beyond New York. The Lord had told me to return some gifts I had received for Elisabeth ¹ and John’s education. I had earlier accepted to take one of the gifts along, 100,000 FCFA from Calvin Fomum ².

I prayed that Calvin would not be angry. To prepare him for it, I asked him: Do you remember the prophet who was told not to eat and he ate? He said, He died. He immediately understood. The Lord blessed me for obeying. So, I encourage you to obey.

None of us knows anything beyond this second. God knows everything right to the end. When there are accidents and deaths, God must have warned. Because God is interested in believers and unbelievers, somewhere along, somebody did not obey. I believe that there are enough warnings before every accident occurs.

The privilege of what a man’s all produces

200,000 FCFA was given to me miraculously ¹.

I remember Ruth saying, God, let me know the God of my father.

I have authority with God in financial matters.

I live a life of self-imposed poverty—not receiving gifts except food and hospitality, a life of unusual fasting and unusual prayer.

The coming revival is tied to this kind of obedience.

Can you live with the thought that if you had obeyed the Lord totally even though you seemed mad, God would have sent rain? You would have lost the privilege of what a man’s all produces.

When Adam ate the fruit, that was his last day.

When the man of God from Judah ate, that was the end of him.

When Samson’s hair was shaved, he was done for.

Let me dare!

Help me to dare!!

God demands only one thing from you—Obedience.

Let me go to India saying to God, I have taken Your yoke on me without negotiating anything, even about offers of food. I have banned apples. They are too expensive (300400 CFA Francs for one). What will I say on judgment day?

If the flowers you want to bring to me are from your yard that’s alright. If you go and buy them, there will be an angel at the door of my office saying, Don’t enter. Let me recklessly attempt to be all that I can be.

I complete the picture; I will not embrace people anymore. My loss is great in that—very great—because it is part of the document God has approved.
