You Can Receive a Pure Heart Today!: Practical Helps For The Overcomers, #15
()
About this ebook
Two fundamental truths are demonstrated in this book:
- that a pure heart is a gift from God which should be treasured as soon as it is received and,
- that only those who have a pure heart will see God.
For, having a pure heart and being holy are one and the same thing.
The book conveys a message on sanctification that is not limited to mere exhortations on the need to have a pure heart. Much more, it is about satisfying the hunger of those who seek to know how to receive a pure heart and keep it continually pure.
In this book, Z.T. Fomum exposes the vanity of Christless religions by establishing the difference between the old (unclean) heart and the new (pure) heart. He demonstrates that all those who have an impure heart need Jesus, regardless of their religion.
This book is like a light in the darkness. Read it.

You Can Receive a Pure Heart Today! - Zacharias Tanee Fomum
The Old Heart
1
The Old Heart - 1
What is the old heart ?
The old heart represents someone in whose life Jesus has not come in to stay.
The Lord Jesus said,
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me.
(Revelation 3:20).
If the Lord Jesus is not in a heart, that heart is old.

The Old Heart - 2
What is the old heart?
The old heart is the heart with which a person is born. No one is born into the world with Jesus Christ in his heart. Every one is born into the world with Jesus Christ outside his heart. The baby at birth has the old heart because Jesus is not in his heart. He has not yet committed sin. However, the absence of sin does not necessarily constitute the new heart. As long as Jesus is not in a heart, that heart is old.
Every human being is born with the old heart. Every new born baby has the old heart.

The Old Heart - 3
What is the old heart?
The old heart is the heart that does good deeds while Jesus is outside of it. It may be filled with good deeds done or being done to man and for man, but because Jesus is outside, those good deeds do not count before God. The person who does good deeds with the Lord Jesus outside of his life ought to repent. The good deeds are also considered as dead works. The Bible says,
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
(Isaiah 64:6).
Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.
(Hebrews 6:1, RSV).

The Old Heart - 4
What is the old heart?
Evil, greed, depravity, envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice, gossip, slander, hatred of God, insolence, arrogance, boastfulness, faithlessness, senselessness, heartlessness, ruthlessness, pride, ingratitude, laziness, bitterness, an unforgiving heart, vanity, severity, lying, falsehood, pretence, gluttony, worry, cowardice, cheating, stealing, hatred, murder, revenge, adultery, fornication, masturbation, homo-sexuality, selfishness, stubbornness, self-exaltation, self-advertisement, self-justification, egotism, love of money, mercilessness, indiscipline, love of vanity, plans to commit evil, invention of new ways of committing sin, hatred for those in authority, lack of self-control, unwillingness to repent, and so on.
The old heart is one that is filled with all manner of evil. The Bible says,
They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practise them.
(Romans 1:29-32).

The Old Heart - 5
What is the old heart?
The old heart is the heart which has even only one sin in it, but Jesus is out of it. The Bible says,
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ also said, ‘Do not murder.’ ‘If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you become a law-breaker.’
(James 2:10-11).
That one sin could be
theft,
adultery,
fornication,
pride,
unbelief or
lying.
It does not matter which one it is. It only matters that it is there and that the Lord Jesus is outside of the heart of the person.
The person who commits one million sins and does not receive Jesus Christ will go to the lake of fire; likewise will the person who commits only one sin and does not receive the Lord Jesus. He too will go to the lake of fire.

The Old Heart - 6
What is the old heart?
Many old hearts are religious. The religion may be
Islam,
Judaism,
Buddhism,
Bahai Faith,
Atheism,
Traditional Religions.
It may be
Catholicism,
Protestantism,
Anglicanism,
Methodism,
Presbyterianism,
Lutheranism,
Pentecostalism,
Brethrenism,
or any other denomination that relates to Jesus.
IF JESUS HAS NOT COME INTO A MAN’S HEART TO DWELL THERE PERMANENTLY, THEN IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER HE IS A MOSLEM, JEW, ATHEIST, CATHOLIC, PROTESTANT, PENTECOSTAL, OR ANYTHING ELSE.
ALL WHO HAVE NOT RECEIVED CHRIST HAVE THE OLD HEART, IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR RELIGIOUS GROUPING AND IRRESPECTIVE OF THE RANK THEY OCCUPY IN THE RELIGIOUS GROUPING.
The following people must receive Christ, if they have not yet received Him:
The Chief Imam of the Moslem religion.
The High Priest of the Jewish Religion.
The Pope of the Catholic denomination.
The Arch-bishop of the Anglican denomination.
The Prelate of the Methodist denomination.
The President, Moderator, Superintendent, and other leaders of the various denominations.
There is one and only one question to consider. That question is, Have you personally received Christ as your Lord and Saviour?
If you have not received Him, then be sure that you have the old heart. Your rank cannot change your heart. The years that you have invested in serving your religion cannot change your heart. The sacrifices that you have made for your religion or in the name of your religion, cannot change your heart. It is only when Jesus comes in that the new heart replaces the old heart.
We have said that a man can be the leader of a religion and yet be lost, having the old heart. If the leader can have the old heart even though in an exalted position, then it goes without question that it is possible for those who are under his leadership, from the most senior to the most junior, to have the old heart even though practising a religion. Yes, they can have old hearts while being zealous. Zeal cannot change the old heart for the new heart. One of the most zealous men who ever lived was Saul of Tarsus. He testified,
"I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the saints in prison, and when they
