About this ebook
Basic Christian Leadership by Z.T. Fomum offers a fresh perspective on what it truly means to be a leader in the eyes of God. Fomum debunks the myth that leadership is merely a matter of appointment or title, and instead, shows that true leadership is achieved and maintained before God, reflected in every aspect of our lives.
The author explores key principles of leadership, including the call to preach the gospel, the foundation of salvation in Jesus Christ, self-denial and humility, pastoral ministry, and much more. With practical advice and real-life examples, Fomum provides a roadmap for developing the qualities necessary for effective leadership.
Whether you are looking to become a better leader, develop competent leaders in your community, or simply deepen your understanding of spiritual leadership, Basic Christian Leadership has everything you need.
This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to grow in their leadership abilities as well as find solutions to their own leadership issues.

PREFACE
Training leaders has always been a permanent burden on Professor Fomum’s heart.
In this book, «Basic Christian Leadership», Professor Fomum highlights the fact that Christian leadership is not primarily an issue of nomination or title, but a position attained and maintained before God in all areas of the Christian life.
The Christian leader is ahead of others in all things particularly in the area of Christ-likeness.
This book was written from notes taken during Professor Fomum’s teachings and covers subject maters such as:
The call to preach the Gospel,
Jesus, the only sure foundation for salvation,
Working towards the reward for a job well done
Fighting against self
and putting on humility
The shepherd’s character, pastoral ministry and the different types of sheep
Inner power,
etc.
Read this book and you will be blessed. Read it and you shall find solutions for most of your issues regarding spiritual leadership
PART ONE
1
A SURE FOUNDATION
SAVED, FOREVER, UNCONDITIONALLY
Salvation is by predestination. God foreknew and planned for the salvation of all who are saved and will be saved. The salvation of every believer was established since the foundations of the world.
God knew that you would believe in his son. His present choice of you is not random. He wrote your name in the book of life before the foundations of the world. Even in your darkest moments do not doubt your place in him. Your labours in Christ are gratitude, not a price for salvation. Someone rightly said that Grace was;
God’s
Riches
At
Christ’s
Expense.
We are saved by grace through faith. Faith is believing that Christ has paid the total price for one’s salvation, and acting upon it. Believing and acting produces faith. Faith is not one without the other.
The actions that follow believing may seem small but they actually produce a world of difference. Until you act, you have not believed. Many people know that Jesus died for them, but they have not acted on that knowledge. They are consequently lost.
It is from this rest and assurance of one’s salvation that all must begin. If not, service is totally unfulfilling. It is only when a man knows that he is His forever, that he can give his all.
The Bible says,
For those God foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the first born among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called; he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified
(Romans 8:29-30.)
We may put it out as follows:
God has done a five-fold act in assuring our rest. How fantastic! We are not expected to add anything to all what God has already done. It has all been done, done for you and me. There is a sense in which God sees us as already on the throne.
It is written,
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus
(Ephesians 2:1-7.)
God did not wait for us to be able to contribute anything, before being seated with Jesus in heavenly places. I am already in heaven, seated in heavenly places. You are already in heaven; here is no nation of yours.
All that has to do with our being in heaven has been done. It is all the work of God and he has done it. Any thing done as working for salvation is totally without grounds. The blood and the blood alone, shed on the cross is the one and only work, already accomplished. To add anything is to renounce the blood.
(Faith) + (Good works) = Hell fire
How dangerous it is to add or even attempt to add to the finished work of the cross!
THE BLOOD OF CHRIST
About the children of Egypt God said,
The blood will be a sign for you on the house where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt
(Exodus 12:13.)
The blood of Jesus has been shed for us who believe; and without this shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness for anyone. To miss the blood is to have missed it all.
We are to tell the world that the blood of Jesus has been shed. We are to tell them to stop labouring and come to His accomplished work. His salvation is eternal. We have been eternally saved.
SAVED ETERNALLY
You may be a troublesome child but a child all the same. Your past failures did not disinherit you from your son-ship.
The appellation ‘son’ was never taken away from the prodigal son. Your standing of son-ship is without question. The love of God is more than the love of a mother and that of a father.
We don’t hope, we know that you are saved. We are not trying to be saved. We are saved. O What a message to tell the world over!
All the saved are in Christ. What a guarantee! All; Jew and gentile have been brought into Christ. But in Christ, there are going to be rewards. Not rewards for salvation, but rewards for service. As far as service is concerned, all shall not receive the same reward. In God, there is a reward for excellence. His promotions (not unto salvation) are based on excellence.
OPENING-UP TO OTHERS—1
There is a lie from hell that the one who opens up and repents will be rejected. Nothing could be further from the truth. Go, open up and see how intimate things become. When sin is truly confessed, repented of and forsaken, people grow closer. It is sin that separates people; repentance brings them closer. Open up for personal healing and minister to the one you open up to. Open up and be accepted. In opening up, open up in everything and open up 100%. You open up 100% or you don’t at all.
When you speak while opening up, say all that is in your heart and enter into perfect healing. Do it in such a way that God can testify that you said all. Leave nothing to be discovered by the other person. Total truth leads to total union. The way to enter people’s hearts is to open our hearts to them.
We also want to acknowledge that there are certain things, which some people are not able to bear. You just have to know it and know what to say and do. Even the Holy Spirit treats
