About this ebook

Lisa Tabby is the personal assistant of the billionaire David Barnes. Mr. Barnes wants her to go to Monaco and purchase a yacht after having it inspected. The yacht, a 155 foot super yacht, will need a captain and a crew to get it back to San Diego. Lisa, befuddled as to why her boss wants her to take on this project, has to start from scratch, because she knows nothing about ships, or boats or even surfboards.

After several interviews, she engages Mr. Clint McFinn, an Irish captain to help her with the yacht and flies with him to Monaco. What follows is an emotional dance for Lisa, because she is very attracted to her new captain, but the project has to come first.

My employer, David Barnes, has asked me to do many things as his personal assistant. So far, I've been able to do them all, but when he asked me to buy a yacht for him, I nearly balked. Trouble was, you don't use words like 'I can't' around billionaire men like David Barnes. It just doesn't register. Still, I felt ambushed.

Mr. Barnes, I don't know anything about yachts. I'm not even sure what the difference between a boat and a yacht is, I argued.

I've already picked it out. It's in Monaco. I want you to fly out, make sure it is in good shape, make the purchase if it is, find another if it is not, and then get it back here to San Diego. That's all, he told me in a reasonable voice.

That's all, I moaned inside my throbbing skull. Why me, was another phrase which didn't register in David's vocabulary. He wanted me to get it done, and that was reason enough.

Alright, I'll make the arrangements. When do you need the yacht in San Diego? I asked.

    August, he told me.

That was three months away. Obviously you couldn't ship a super yacht across the U.S., so it was going to need to be driven around the tip of South America, and then up to San Diego.

My mind started working on the problem as I walked away. Working for David, I had resources. I had money and jets and people I could call. So I sat down at my desk, and called a local yacht club.

After talking with the man who answered the phone, I discovered my first task was to find a captain for the ship. Obviously I wasn't going to be driving the thing, so that made sense. Also, a good captain would be able to have the ship inspected, to see that it was worth the purchase. A captain would also be able to help hire a crew, which I was told I would need.

Where do I find a captain? I asked him.

I can make some calls for you, and find a couple of good prospects if you like, he offered.

"That would be wonderful, here is the address. Have them come to the main house between 10am and 5pm. I'll meet with them here and we'll go from there. Just have
