MITCH ROBERTOM

By the time you read this, Mitch Robertom and his partner Kathryn will be married. That’s if everything goes to plan and Melbourne hasn’t descended into another snap lockdown. Mitch and Kathryn have had to delay and reschedule their matrimonial plans three separate times now. But when I caught Mitch on the phone for this interview, the wedding was only two weeks away, and he sounded stoked that it was finally going to happen. Aside from coronavirus drama and wedding plans, we also spoke about his long list of previous sponsors, dumb tatts, his pro model surprise, and the inevitable comparisons people make between him and Jon Dickson. Mitch’s last interview in Slam was seven years ago, when he was a 22-year-old party animal with a nose ring who was riding for Think. As you’ll find out, a lot has changed for him since then. Importantly though, Mitch still oozes style and grace on his skateboard, and can still huck like a mad-dog.

Hey Mitch, what’s been happening today?

I had to go to my friend Adam Coleman’s house to get my wedding ring resized and my partner Kathryn’s wedding ring fixed up. He’s a jeweller, and he skates as well.

“Corona played around with our plans a little bit – we’ve had three dates set to get married – but it’s happening in two weeks now.”

Did he make your rings for you?

Yeah, he made my partner’s engagement ring, and he made my wedding ring. It’s real cool for it to come from someone you know. It’s pretty bad arse.

Congrats on getting engaged. You must be hyped.

Yeah, thanks! Corona played around with our plans a little bit – we’ve had three dates set to get married – but it’s happening in two weeks now.
