Aries Asks to Join My Group

I, Sam Peacemaker, return to the mortal world where I had spent so many years living on my way to an ezzran. With me is my special group: my Sari and her close friends, Sara and her council, Jewel and her council, and all our spouses. We all go to the castle where I had lived. I sit on the throne.

My daughter Sari sits on my right, her husband next to her, and Sara on my left with her husband next to her. Jewel sits at my feet, with her husband just past that. My husband, Toni, stands behind me. My council takes their places around the room, and the rest join them, sitting on the side that their leader, Peacemaker, does.

We are quite a group. These are my strengths, my muses, the reasons I live so long and will never die. We as a unit are stronger than anyone can imagine. We the immortals have returned home.

A young mortal girl walks in and says, Can I join you all? You laugh so much on walking in that I know you must have a good time. Please, might I join in the fun?

I reply, Aries, we do have a good time. But what makes you think we would tell you our jokes, stories, or past?

Aries says, I am sorry. I just thought it sounded fun. Was I wrong to ask?

I talk to the rest in immortal language. When we are all in agreement, I say in nonmagic, as Aries is nonmagic, We might allow you to join us if you pass a test. There are magics on this world. Also some that visit from other worlds. Find them and get a letter from each of them that states that you and your family and close friends have not harmed their people, and bring the letters here. If you manage to do so, then we will let you join us. We set no time limit, and this is the only test you have. Leave.

Aries asks, How many letters do I need?

I reply, Each of the symbols around this room is what you would need to find. I told you to leave.

She walks out after studying the symbols. Five years later, she is back with a lot of scrolls. She says, Miss, please, letters for you.

I hold out my hands, and she gives them to me. I pass them to each of the groups. Three do not have them: mer, water sphinx, and water-ice. I ask, You have harmed some magics?

Aries replies, I am afraid of drowning. Those symbols remind me of water.

I say, Unless you get the letters, you do not join us. Leave.

She walks out. Weeks pass by. Then she is back with the rulers of the three water-type magics whose letters she was missing. They sit on seeing me and my group. So I ask, Has the child harmed any of your peoples?

They all reply, Non, child, family, and close friends are safe, King Sam.

I say, Do the letters say she is safe?

My group replies, They state that she is safe and her family and friends also. Then they question who asks and what is the purpose.

I say, Aries, bring your parents to talk to me. Leave.

    Aries leaves.

I say, Mertha-Marge, Aqua Marine Anns, and Water-Ice Wanda, why are you here?

Anns replies, I wanted to know who asked about the human child. I am afraid on seeing you as I know you are King Sam, one of the great kings of the past.

    The other two nod.

I say, Anns, Marge, Wanda, I am indeed King Sam, the same one that was last here. I am an immortal. So is everyone else here, except you three. The human child does not know who we are, but she saw us laughing as we came here and asked if she could join us. We decided to learn if she was safe before we made a decision. She will learn from us. None of you will see her again as I will send her family to a whole different place. No magic is there yet, but she will take magic there. She does not know it though. Leave.

They do so. An hour later, Aries walks in with her parents. Before any of them can speak, I say, Good, Aries, you passed our test. You asked to join us as you thought we have fun. Child, you are not ready to live with us in our group. I have a set of necklaces. You will be sent with your parents to a very different place. Pass out the necklaces to whomever you think deserves them. Find a place to live there. None of the necklaces belongs to you. Settle in a land that reminds you of this nation. Someday you might join us. If not you, then a descendant of yours. Be good to the magics, child, they will consider you a friend. We think you are brave and kind, but you lack in wisdom and strength, mostly strength. Here are the necklaces, Aries. Take them and leave.

Aries takes hold of them, and I send her and her parents to a world far away where there are no magics yet. Aries will hand out the necklaces, placing magic in the world, and someday her descendant will choose the name Peacemaker and in so doing will gain right to join the immortals.

That one that does so will eventually take my place as the AO. Then I will be free to travel anywhere anytime, helping whoever needs it. I had Aries start a new line of magics, and eventually it will return to me a finished process. This is our ways. I finished the process the AO before me started long ago and then started one myself.

This cycle never ends as each one loves learning and allows others to learn also. I will help Aries choose the magics while using a disguise and test whoever wishes to marry her. Our beginnings and our ends are always connected, and that is why we never die.

    AO-Sam Peacemaker, the Sky Being

    New Magics

Five years have passed by, and I take a disguise and go see how Aries is coming along. I find her settled in a land similar to my home. But she has not passed out any of the necklaces. I do not approve of that.

She has not seen me yet. I go to her parents and say, Sir, Miss, does the child hold objects of others for a reason?

Her father asks, What are you talking about?

I reply, Was she not tasked with passing out necklaces to others and told not to keep any for herself? Yet I find none that wear those necklaces.

Her mother asks, Were you there?

I reply, In the group that asked her to do so. We wonder why she has not.

Her mother says, She walks around this city daily looking for others to hand the necklaces to and has not found any yet. I won’t allow her to travel outside the city as we saw tiger tracks on our way in.

I say, If she fails to pass out the necklaces, then she would be charged with treason against an empire that she asked to join. Worse for her that she should be. Let her go where she needs to so she can complete the task.

Her mother says, But the tigers.

I say sharply, If she fails to do as asked and is charged with treason, then she would have reason to fear them that handed her the task. She is safe. All she has to do is ask magics for their help, and she would get it.

Her father asks, Why are those necklaces being passed out so important to that group?

I say, No need to know.

I leave. That night I hear her mother say, Aries, promise me you will come home safe, and I will allow you to go where you need to so you can complete the task that group gave you. Even if you have to go back through the forest.

Aries replies, Ma, I will do my best to return safely to you. I am not sure how long I will be gone or even where to go. None here are right. I am glad you are allowing me to try to do as they asked me to. I will leave in the morning after breakfast.

The next morning they hug her and she leaves. Hours pass by, and she enters a town to get some lunch. But she has no money and nothing but the necklaces with her; she can’t offer them in a trade. They have to be gifts. A young girl is eating lunch, and Aries goes and sits by her.

Aries says, Miss, might I have the apple please?

The girl just hands it to her then takes out a notebook and opens to a blank page and writes, My name is Acli. What is yours?

Aries tells her. Acli writes, Nice to meet you, Aries. I can’t talk. You seem hungry. You can have the food. I am not very hungry right now.

Aries thanks her. Acli watches her eat then takes out a history book and starts reading. I implant the ancient symbol on Aries’s mind and whisper to her, She is wise to know her past.

Aries takes the clue and says, Acli, it is wise to know one’s past. Also to be kind to others. Aries places down the necklace with the ancient symbol and says, A gift for the kindness you have shown me.

Acli writes, It’s nice. Surely you had someone in mind when you bought it.

Aries says, I was handed it and told to give it to another. I choose to give it to you.

Acli writes, Thank you then. She places it around her neck.

Aries heads off, unaware I am following. Acli never even knew I was there.

Aries walks for many hours. She does without dinner as none would give her any. She just walks on. Out a ways from a town, she comes across a family sitting and looking at the stars. I cause the star symbol to appear on the youngest child.

Aries asks, Please, might I sit with you all for a bit? If it’s not too much trouble, I could use some food.

The small child hands over the orange she was about to eat and says, You need it more.

Aries sits down and says, Thank you. I am Aries. What are your names?

The man replies, Where are your parents, Aries? I am Ronald. These are my wife, Rene; son, Kin; and daughters, Sally, the oldest, and Stess, the youngest.

Aries replies, Nice to meet you all. My parents stayed home. Stess enjoys the stars, yes?

    Stess answers, Yes.

Aries holds out the star necklace to her and says, Reminds one of the stars, yes?

    Stess replies, Can I have?

Rene says sharply, Stess! That was uncalled for.

Stess hangs her head. I saw tears in her eyes as she did so. Aries says, Miss, I was offering it to her as a gift. She was very kind to give me the orange, and I wish to give her something also. The necklace is all I have with me. So yes, Stess, you can have it.

She places it on Stess’s lap. Stess says, Thank you, miss, now I can look at the stars anytime. She puts it on. They all go to bed.

In the middle of the night, I wake Aries up. I whisper to her, They will force you to return home and take them there also, and scold your parents for allowing you to go by yourself. It would severely delay progress. Leave them now. As the sun rises, you will be able to find the child that enjoys the moon and the one that enjoys the sun. Hurry along, Aries. Do not let them keep you. I leave as she fully wakes up. She thinks it was just a dream but heads out into the night.

After an hour of stumbling around in the dark, Aries whispers, Magics, help me see where to go.

I cause light pulses to appear and lead her to where she needs to be. Then I make them circle around her. Then the light pulses spell out, Aries, wait here. The sun will rise in an hour. They will come. Aries sits down.

An hour later, two girls about the same age come from opposite directions, and Aries stands and says, Friends of the light, I have a gift for both of you. She holds up the necklaces, one in each hand. The girls take hold of one each and thank her, dancing as they do, and continue on their way.

Aries starts walking again. She sees a small boy sprinkle water over a small patch of flowers, and I cause the dewdrop symbol to appear by him. She places the necklace down, and it changes into a belt. I tell Aries to tell him, It is a gift to help water the plants.

She does, and he calls her strange. He did not see it change to a belt. But he enjoys the symbol so much he puts it on. Aries walks off.

Days pass by, and she comes across a boy playing in the ashes from a fire. His parents are annoyed. I cause the fire-ash symbol to appear near him, and she takes out the belt that has that symbol on it. It had changed from a necklace to a belt on her touch, as they all would if the one was a male.

Aries says, Enjoy warm things, young sir? Do you enjoy this? She tosses it to him, and he looks it over then puts it on.

His father asks, Why do you hand that to my son, miss?

Aries says, Gift, and can’t be returned. To give out the items I hold is what I wish. She runs off before they can force her to take it back or take her home.

An hour later, Aries comes across a very young girl that is drinking ice water. I have Aries ask if she enjoys the cold. Aries says, Hi, I am Aries. Do you enjoy cold?

The young girl replies, Yes, and my name is Wanda.

I cause the water-ice symbol to appear, and Aries says, I think you might enjoy this, Wanda.

She places down the necklace that has that symbol and walks away. I see Wanda put it on. The next day she comes across a brother and sister. The boy is running in the lightning storm, and the girl is playing in the rain.

Aries asks their parents, Do they enjoy this weather?

Their mother replies, Very much. My son thinks the lightning is fascinating, and my daughter enjoys the rain. Why do you ask?

I cause the electricity symbol to appear on the boy and the power symbol to appear on the girl. Aries is the only one that sees that. She replies, Gifts for them. She places the belt and necklace that have those symbols down and continues, I do not want anything but to be kind to others. I just think these suit them. Aries walks off.

The children see the symbols and, before their parents can object, put the items on. Aries is out of sight now, and their parents tell the children to put the items down. I walk up and say, I would not suggest that. Those items become a part of the life that wears them. It is painful much to remove them. I won’t, you can’t, and they aren’t apt to.

The boy says, Stranger girl said they were gifts, so why shouldn’t we wear them?

The girl says, I won’t give it up. I am a queen now, and Ete is a king.

    Ete says, Yes, right, Panny.

I laugh and say, Glad to meet you, King Ete of the electricity people and Queen Panny of the power people. I walk off. They won’t remember me.

A week later, Aries comes across a baby girl in her mother’s arms. Aries’s thoughts are, She is so sweet. Can I gift her something?

I place a crystal in her pocket and tell her to hold it above the child and see how she reacts. If she reaches for it, she gets the necklace that has that symbol on it and the crystal. Aries does as she is told. The girl is gifted the necklace and crystal.

It is the middle of summer now, and Aries comes across a class practicing running. A boy outdistances the rest of his class. I show Aries the Races the South Wind symbol. Aries touches it, and it changes to a belt.

She pulls it out and says loudly, A gift for the winner of the race. She places it down, and less than a minute later, he picks it up and puts it on. Aries walks off.

Two weeks after that, she comes across a boy reciting poems. I ask her to say a poem. That is, Here or there I know where you are those of the spells.

She says it, and he repeats it then asks for its meaning. Aries shrugs and says, Do not know. I think you enjoy this. She places down the spell-caster belt, as I had showed her the symbol.

He says, It is unique. Why give it to me?

Aries says, Do not know, only that you do enjoy it, yes?

He puts it on, and Aries walks away.

An hour later, she runs into a girl humming as birds might. I show Aries the music symbol, and she hands over the necklace that has it on it. The girl hugs Aries and puts it on. Aries walks away. I know she misses her parents, and that evening I come to her and hand her a meal. I have been paying others to give her two meals a day.

I say, Aries, I know you miss your family. They miss you too. It won’t be too much longer. You need to finish, okay?

She nods and says, Do they know I am safe?

I reply, They have been told but won’t truly accept it till you are with them again.

Aries nods. She has finished the meal and now goes to sleep.

The next day she comes to a volcano, and a boy is sitting at its peak. He looks at a flower. Aries says, Do you not find it hot here?

He replies, Gotten used to it. Trying to figure out how to get the flower for my mother. She would enjoy it. Except it only grows in the volcano, and she would not enjoy me climbing down.

Aries says, Enjoy the volcano? She places down the belt that has the fire sphinx symbol on it. That symbol looks as a volcano, so she knew which one to give him.

He says, That is neat. What would you want for it?

Aries replies, I was told to give it away as a gift. So I give it as a gift. She walks off. He puts it on.

Aries is very hot after being near so much heat that she heads toward the ocean. A girl is there, swimming in the water. She races out from her parents then after ten feet turns back toward them and races back, repetitively. I show Aries the water sphinx symbol.

Aries calls out, Young miss has fun in the water, yes? Looks that way. I have something for you as the fun you have is much happiness to others.

The girl swims over and says, What and why?

Aries holds out the necklace and says, This because you enjoy it so. The child takes it.

Aries walks down the shore. Five hours later, she comes to a fish market. She sees a boy wandering around. He looks away anytime a fish is killed. I show Aries the mer symbol. Aries goes to him and says, Care for fish?

He replies, I love the smell. I just don’t care to see them hurt. Why ask?

Aries holds out the belt that has the mer symbol on it. He says, Nice.

Aries says, Good. Yours now. She places it down and walks away. He picks it up.

Aries takes a boat ride to an island with a small town on it. Walking around, she comes to the town square. They are having a meeting and having trouble with the water wheel. A small boy is listening closely. The adults have no idea how to fix it. He asks, Might I try?

The leader scuffs and replies, Think you know more than any of us, boy?

The boy replies, No. Just want to try as it would cost a lot to have one come repair it from the mainland.

Some call out, Let the lad try. It would save the village much if he is able to.

So the leader says, Alden, you might try.

Aries follows, and he starts a small fire in an area. The wheel starts moving. I am slightly confused. Aklantis leans toward water, yet here it is fire to help? Yet the boy has the smarts of the technology, so he is the ruler of Aklantis.

I show Aries the symbol, and she steps out and says, Young sir, I do not understand, but technology you enjoy, so a gift for you. It reminds me of technology. She places down the belt.

He picks it up and says, I can’t accept this.

I take a disguise and step out and say, Too late, you already did. It is yours now. Miss, they asked me to ask you if there is more.

Aries takes off running. I leave.

The next day, Aries comes across a girl playing in the dirt. Her parents try to get her to clean up as they are expecting company. I hear them say, Ruby, we have guests coming over, get clean.

Ruby says, I prefer the dirt. I enjoy sapphires.

I am stunned. This girl is the red sapphire? An elf, I was sure of, but the red sapphire? I show Aries the elf symbol.

On my instructions, Aries says, Ruby the Sapphire, is the elfin the black diamond?

Ruby says, Ooh, can I see it?

I tell Aries to hold out the necklace that holds the symbol. Aries obeys. Ruby takes it and puts on the necklace. Then she picks up a small rock, and after looking it over, she hits it a few times then hands her mother the gem that came out—an almond-sized ruby. She goes and gets cleaned up. Aries leaves.

Days later Aries sees a young girl tending to a butterfly garden. I show Aries the fairy symbol.

Aries holds out the necklace, and the girl says, It is neat. Can I have it? My name is Moistly.

Aries says, Gift, Moistly. Yes, yours now.

I am in shock again. The water fairy. None have started with the water fairy. Moistly takes the necklace and puts it on. Aries leaves. I tell her to head home. Her parents need to know she is safe.

Aries whispers, What about the last two symbols?

I reply, It will wait, one you will meet in the winter, a fast runner. I show the symbol. Then I tell her,
