    Introduction

I am Sam Peacemaker, an immortal pretending to be mortal. I have a shard of an immortality spear. It talks to me, telling me things most do not know and teaching me things most cannot do. It tells me it will lead me to greatness. Somehow, I trusted its voice even when I first picked it up. Shortly after I first picked it up, it gave me the last name Peacemaker. A short bit after that, I declared it as the last name I wanted and in days started a test to get it as my last name. I am in the middle of that now.

If I pass, I get the last name I want. If I fail, I get my parents’ last name and will not be able to get past the rank they had when I declared intent for a last name. My parents actually had to start me on my test by making me join the mortals acting as a daughter to the couple they chose as my teachers. I did that and came to love my teachers as a second set of parents before they died. When they died, I was already ruling the nation they lived in as his father had passed it directly to me as his grandchild. From the way I joined them, everyone thinks that I am. To learn about all of my journey so far, read Tales of the Peacemaker: The First Peacemaker and Tales of the Peacemaker: Through the First Years.

The shard of the immortality spear I picked up is part of the main stone off of it. This stone feels as an elf stone, a gem, but I am unable to duplicate it as I can to any other gem. Nothing feels or looks right. The main stone hides me from everyone’s sight as I wait for the next part of my test for all must assume, I am mortal until my test is passed. I carry my parents’ genetics and my teachers’ genetics. My parents’ genetics can only be passed with the one I chose as my forever love. My teacher’s genetics though pass whenever I have to do a temporary union. This their grate-something grandchild is not mine, yet every mortal and many immortals would assume they are the same. I reenter the test as one of the descendants of the couple that were my teachers.

This I have had two unions that are not permanent. I was free thirty years after the male died. While I did not want to have them die, I also did not want to be theirs forever. If they had gained immortality, I could have ended up in a permanent union with them. I am only allowed one. That so, I knew they could not get immortality. I gave them what happiness I could while I was near them. It might happen again. The main stone has told me that it will not make me continue my test unless it is to save lives or that I am close enough to finishing the test that I could do so without everyone questioning my lifespan. I have a view port open while I am hidden from almost everyone. I am watching the mortal girl that descendant from my teachers with my last name. She is the last one of the family line alive and just reaching dating age. Her name is Sara Ann Marie Peacemaker.

She is in a carriage right now with the king, queen and their youngest son (a boy only a year older than she is). They are helping her as she spent the last ten years serving them without complaint for just shelter and food. She never asked for anything more than that. They took her in after her parents died the same night, they arrived in the nation they are from. They have been traveling from just after breakfast to sunset for three months. Sara having made a request to check on friends she had. What those with her do not realize is that she is a royal and she has never met her friends. She is searching for the marks of the magic nations’ rulers. It has been three hundred years since the last one ruled with my last name so I am glad Sara is headed to that nation as I cannot go back there if the nation is lost to the Peacemakers. I will have my nation, yet I would not kill any. That makes Sara’s returning there good as it will not be lost to me. It is mid afternoon when Sara asks, Stop please.

A king has his guards that are riding on the carriage and some mounted-on horses stop. It is done in moments. Sara gets out and goes over to a girl a bit younger than she is. They are to far for Sara’s companions to hear. Sara says, Greetings Diadon. I am Sara Ann Marie. Might my companions and I join your family for dinner?

Diadon looks at Sara then says, For sure miss. I feel as if I should know you, yet I do not recall ever meeting you before.

Sara says, Do not worry about it. Let your parents know they have company coming for dinner.

After a brief glance over where Sara had joined her from, Diadon nods and walks off. Sara goes back to the carriage. There Sara says, We have all been invited to dinner. I have already accepted, and it would be very rude not to go.

The king says, We will not be rude to them. Sara, next time ask me first before agreeing.

Sara says, Very well sir. The girl waits to lead us to her home.

They follow Diadon at a much slower pace than they were going on the way to that town. After a few moments, Diadon says, Miss, my mom would be very nervous if she sees the carriage, horses, armor and weapons. Could we leave it at the stables until your group is ready to leave?

Sara says, I would hate to make her uncomfortable around us when she is being so nice to let us join your family for dinner. Please Sir, can we do as the youth suggests? Nervous sometimes comes off as very rude.

The king asks, Are you sure it is safe Sara?

Sara says, Sir, I would not even ask if I was not certain of your family’s safety. I care little for mine if those with me are not safe.

    The king says, Very well.

They go to a stables and leave the carriage, horses, armor and weapons there. Diadon shifts. Sara asks, What else?

Diadon says, Rank miss. My family is commoners here. Mom has no idea about dad’s heritage.

Sara sighs, Sir, your crowns must also stay with your carriage. No one will take anything belonging to your family or troops. I promise they will not.

The king says, If they come up missing you will be paying for the replacements.

Sara says, Fair. Leave them here.

They take off their crowns and put them in the carriage. Sara touches all stalls the items, carriage and horses are in doing a silent spell to make sure no one entered them until she removed the invisible seal across them. Then they follow Diadon to her home on foot. Nearing a home a few minutes later, Diadon says, Give me four minutes to let my mom know you are here.

    Sara says, Of course.

Diadon enters a house a few doors away from them. Four minutes later, Diadon comes back over to them saying, Go on in. Mom is expecting you now, I will go pay for your animals to be fed.

She rushes off. Sara leads the group to the house Diadon had freely entered and knocks. A woman answers saying, You must be the group my daughter tells me she invited to dinner. Please forgive me for not having anything ready, but my daughter had not asked me if she could have guests over.

Smiling Sara says, No problem, we can wait while food is made. Do you need any help in the kitchen?

The woman replies, I do not ask guests to work.

Coming in, Diadon says, I am glad you all could come to dinner.

To that her mother says, You, young lady, get to help make it.

Nodding, Diadon follows her mother into the kitchen. Sara and her companions go sit in the living room. Well, the royals sit, but the guards stand. Sara whispers, Sir, they need to relax when the meal is served or frighten this family. It can be passed off that they prefer standing more often then most, but not at a meal. Have them join us at the table when food is served. Please do not stress a family so kind to us when I inconvenienced them. I asked to join the girl and her family for dinner on all of our behalf. The girl knows more about my friends then she lets on. Her gestures are information for me alone.

The king says, Fine. What sort of things has she told you?

Sara says, Did you see her salute me as I do to you?

He says, I was wondering about that.

Sara says, That is a statement that she trusts me with her life. Anyone she trusts with her life would get saluted. Anyone I trust so much would get saluted. The more often a person is saluted, the more that person trusts that one with their life. The more people salute one person, the higher the rank that person has.

I expand my view port so I can see Diadon and her mother as well. I see them making many meat and cheese sandwiches on dry bread. An older male who has the dragon mark of the royal family enters through a door that leads outside. Diadon’s mother says, We have guests.

    Dragon male asks, Who?

With a shrug the woman says, Our daughter invited them without my knowledge.

Dragon male gives his daughter a brief look of disapproval before going out of the kitchen to the living room. He looks as if he is about to say something then notices Sara. I see the puzzled look come over him. I am sure he is trying to place how he feels to know her yet has never met her before. I know that the last ruler of my nation had sealed a good deal of knowledge from the people under her command to keep them safe until the new ruler came home safely or spoke the name near them. With a glance at him, Sara says, Ask your daughter if she trusts me.

With a nod, he goes back into the kitchen. He asks, Diana, do you know these people? The one lady asked me to ask you if you trusted her.

Diadon says, I have not met any of them before, When she asked if she and her companions might join us for dinner, I told her of course. I am not even sure why, but that I entirely trust her. Somehow, I feel as if I should know her, yet I don’t remember her.

At that her mother scolded her with, I thought that you knew better than to invite strangers over!

All humans with Sara look toward the kitchen. Sara sighs, Excuse me please.

She gets up and enters the kitchen closing the door softly behind her asking, Madam, is there a problem?

The woman replies, No problem. My daughter just told me that she does not know any of you.

    Sara says, "She has not
