Transferring debt

The four of them, Sam Peacemaker, Aquamarinia ‘Ann’, the man and his oldest son, went to the ocean. Sam walked into the water. Aquamarinia shuddered and followed saying sir the only way to get to your family is to swim, you are safe with Sam around. So they followed. They all swam and minutes later entered a magic protection field and saw a kingdom before them.

They had noticed that Ann had seamed nervous when they could not see the kingdom but seamed relaxed now. They wondered why. She was relaxed now because she accepted that she was in trouble and that there was no turning back.

Sam stepped onto the kingdom’s sidewalks she walked forward, they followed. Sam said this is the nation that is called Aquarius, it is home to water sphinx. Aquamarinia is one of them. Come Aquarius was an underwater city that moved around, it was very hard to find, nearly impossible unless one was with a water sphinx.

Sam lead them to the castle and Aquamarinia seemed to be scarred. The man that helped raised Aquamarinia asked Why does Ann seem afraid?

They saw terror pass over her face and she looked away. Sam said She is very afraid. And has good reason to be. Come I introduce you to the queen now.

They entered the castle none trying to stop them. He asked about that with Why did the guards not stop us?

Sam told them they respect me that much.

They went into the throne room and saw his family. Lily, the man’s daughter, was sitting on the queen’s lap. The queen turned towards them and they realized that it was Aquamarinia’s mother. Aqua Marine said they are welcome here.

Aqua Marine looked at her daughter and said She is to be punished by the guardians then?

Sam replied No. I accept the punishment as mine.

Aquamarinia gasped thank you my queen.

And want over to Lily and said sister let me show you my home. They were sisters as in magic ways, though not blood related.

They left the room and Lily’s father said well I didn’t expect you to be the queen when you said you would introduce us to her.

Sam said you misunderstand. I do not rule here Aqua Marine does. Her daughter and Lily are both princesses of this land. I am their queen. Aquamarinia will someday be queen of this land.

He asked How can she be queen if you are queen?

Sam said Someday when your children get married they will be responsible for their families. Would their marriage take away from your responsibilities? And the oldest carries the burden of the family line. This is how my nations works, I am as the oldest child responsible for the others.

Oh he said understanding that concept.

Sam! was called out.

Sam turned and said The guardians have decided a punishment then.

They answered Yes we have

Sam said I don’t want to know. Do I? She knew it was not going to be pleasant. Sam was willing to take punishment for any of her peoples.

They replied You or Aquamarinia, Your choice. and held out a scroll.

Sam said Me, I knew the guardians have that right. They had the right as Sam had volunteered to take the punishment for Ann’s violation of magic laws. Sam took the scroll opened it and read. Then sighed and put it in a pocket and left. She knew that she was no longer a queen but an outcast, her child would be able to rule though and that is why she was able to accept the punishment with grace.

Tears of sorrow

Sam did not want to use the honored name anymore so she changed her name to Mayta or many tears. And started to travel. She would only answer to the name she chose as a replacement now.

After a year went by Mayta was tired her energy levels had studiedly dropped once she left her lands and her magic had gone dormant she was unable to use it anymore. A couple of days later she passed out from pure exhaustion.

A prince came across her on his way home from his cousins and realized that she would not be safe where she was so he picked her up and took her to his home. With her magic shut down she became safe to touch unless one tried to harm her. He placed her in his room and had guards posted telling them to let him know when she woke up.

Three days later he was checking on her, the guards had stepped into the room when he went in, and minutes later she woke up. Not recognizing her surroundings Sam asked Where am I?

He came over and said You are safe and with friends. I brought you to my home so you wouldn’t be hurt. My name is James.

Nice to meet you James. Thank you for your help. Could I get some food please. Mayta said.

Sure he replied Can I know your name?

She sighed and said my name is now Mayta, that is what I answer to.

Now? he questioned as in not always?

She sighed No it was different, and has not been spoken in over a year. Though I miss being called by my given name, I have no right to be called it anymore. Forgive me for not telling you what my name was.

Food had arrived and she started to eat. The king and queen came in. Seeing that she was awake the queen asked What is your friend’s name son?

He replied She says she goes by the name Mayta.

The queen looked confused and said many tears? Why would you be called that?

Mayta replied Queen knows the languages of the allied nations?

There was a pause and the queen replied I was taught some of the languages. Tell me how is the queen Sam.

Mayta pushed the food away and looked away tears running down her face and asked to be left alone. The queen said I am sorry to upset you I did not mean to.

James said I don’t get it she said she was hungry but hardly touched the food. And what upset her when you asked about that queen?

Mayta said It is hard to eat when emotional. As to the reason I am emotional it is that we have no queen. The united council rules.

The queen said I am sorry I had not known that she had died.

Mayta shook her head I did not say that she had. She is alive but no one knows where she is. She took a punishment for one of the people when that one broke the laws we live by and we have not seen or heard from her since. When she has a child that child would become king or queen. But for now the united council rules. Sam was speaking as any of her people might.

The queen said I never met queen Sam, did you know her?

Mayta replied I knew her well. I changed my name the day she left the lands.

The queen asked What can you tell me about her?

Mayta replied She is a kind person. Follows the laws of the allied nations completely. Helps others when she can and was much loved by her peoples. She is greatly missed. We look forward to the day she has a child and that child comes into the nation.

Would you tell us about her looks? The prince asked. He wanted to know about the queen that Mayta loved so much to change her name.

Mayta shook her head and said she forbid us to tell much about her wishing to be unknown.

Would you tell us about yourself? the prince asked.

Mayta asked What do you want to know?

He replied Whatever you would tell us.

Mayta said There is not much to tell. I will always obey the laws of my home. I was born with magic though I have none now. It is why my name is now Mayta and means many tears. I miss having magic it was easier and I learned a lot. Many fear magics, yes, and I always had to be careful, but it was the only way I knew. Magic laws are the laws I live by and I will always protect magics even if it costs me my life. I have no hope that I might see the queen again and little hope of meeting her child. I left the land over a year ago, and have not been back. She had no hope that she might rule again, and little hope of seeing any child become ruler of the nation.

The prince asked Why do you not return? It is obvious that you care about that land still so why stay away.

Mayta replied I do care and I wish that I could return I stay away because it is and is not my choice. It was as she could go back, was not as if she did it would be Aquamarinia’s punishment once again and she could not ask her people to go through that, especially after saying she would take the punishment.

That made no sense to me he said.

Mayta thought a bit then said "I made the choice to leave and not return and that decision stands. If I had realized how hard it would
