About this ebook

I was not successful at hunting last night because I could not see anything in the rain. My bow and arrows seemed to be drying faster than I was. I decided to go check the village; hopefully someone was going to feel sorry for me and feed me.
While entering the small village, a big group of people was gathering around a sign that was being posted by a royal knight. His expensive uniform gave him away. After pushing a few people around, I was able to read the post.

“Young Princess Victoria has been abducted by Amira, the dark magic sorcerer. The King is offering one hundred gold coins to anyone who rescues her.”

One hundred gold coins? My siblings and I would not have to worry about when the next meal was going to come.

“Do not tell me you are actually considering rescuing the Princess, little girl!” a handsome stranger asked.

“I am not a little girl, I am sixteen years old, and it’s none of your business if I am going to rescue her or not.”

    Chapter 1

    THE QUEST BEGINS

The view from this tall tree is kind of pretty. I can see salmon jumping on the river. Colorful birds are making their nests while they sing. The sky is clear this morning after a night of heavy rain.

Too bad the forest has deadly dangers that force me to sleep in trees all the time.

My stomach is growling with hunger, and as far as I can tell there must be a village close by, because I can smell food being cooked.

My name is Emma and I am a sixteen-year-old orphan with long brown hair that I braid every other day. My eyes are hazel, like my mom’s. My blue maiden dress is the only one I own.

I am in charge of four siblings. Our parents died trying to protect us from a dragon attack and were killed instantly by the monster’s lethal fire.

I was not successful at hunting last night because I could not see anything in the rain. My bow and arrows seemed to be drying faster than I was. I decided to go check the village; hopefully someone was
