THE ENCHANTED CANARY

His son could not have been more different. He was restless and adventurous! He dreamed of travelling to other lands and seeing all the exotic things they did not have in Flanders. Things like wonderful flowers and fruits and colourful birds… He thought his country would be a nicer place if it had a bit more variety!

The young prince's name was Desire, and it suited him – most of the girls of Flanders thought he was very handsome!

But Desire did not want to marry, for he was always dreaming about the wonders that lay beyond the horizon…

One morning, a bishop came to the palace, carrying something round and orange.
