Dear Grandad,

As I look back at photographs of you, I feel so lucky that I was chosen to be your granddaughter.

You were the most kind and caring man, and always my number one fan.

‘Dream big!’ you and Grandma Shirley used to tell me when I was younger.

I remember when I was six years old, and my parents had let me stay up to watch the Miss World competition.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen as beautiful women paraded up and down the catwalk in glittering gowns.

‘I want to be just like those girls!’ I told you and Grandma the next day.
