Introduction
Hello everyone! This is Noomi Natan, and this is When You Can’t Just Talk About It: How to Navigate Difficult Conversations,
a course from Scribd. Thank you for joining me. Let’s begin.
We’ve all been there. You have a problem with your boss or with a colleague, and you're really frustrated, so you’ve gone to your friend or your spouse, and you’ve told them about it. And they say, Well, just talk to them about it, just have a conversation!
Your heart sinks because you know you can’t just have a conversation
about it. This is why you need help in the first place! If it was that simple, you would have had the conversation to begin with.

Maybe they'll get upset, maybe they'll take it out on you, or maybe they just won't hear it. And to make matters worse, everyone you talk to about this problem says, Well, just have a conversation about it. Just talk to the person.
But you can’t.
When I started coaching over thirteen years ago, I was slightly naive, and so was my reaction — "Well, just have
