The story

Prelude

She took a deep breath. This was it. Months of flirting. Finally, finally he asked her out. Like really had asked her out. It wasn’t as if they hadn’t been on a date like events before. Except that it had never been a date. They had done dinner and lunches and so on. Sometimes with groups of people and once in a while just the two of them.

Originally, they had just been in a business relationship. Then they had become friends and then the hint of more had started to show up.

They had spent time together, but it was always under the context of business.

But they both knew the day would come where they needed to decide if their relationship was something more than work.

Apparently that day was today.

It hadn’t been easy for either one of them. He had to work up the courage to ask her. He had thought long and hard about just what to do, and since dinner was something they already did, he wasn’t sure just how to up the stakes to a date. She was usually so focused on work that the one or two other times he had tried to make an overture she had rebuffed it unintentionally.
