About this ebook

There are consequences to sleeping with your gorgeous billionaire boss and Adrian realized that little fact by Tuesday morning.  She had fled his penthouse apartment that morning after leaving a cowardly note behind.

She was grateful that Courtney was still with her estranged father when she got home.  Acting like everything was normal would not have been possible.  Then again, if Michael had not shown up at the office ranting and raving, and Courtney had been staying with her that week, going to dinner and then going home with Andrew would not have happened.

It was such a tangled web that Adrian’s head throbbed.  Or that could have been the wine from dinner.  Either way, she immediately started a pot of coffee and as it brewed, she tossed her grey suit into the corner of her room and slid into her yoga pants with a heavy sigh.

    Chapter One: The Morning After

She rang Marie, Andrew’s assistant, and called in sick for a day.  She had not done that since she started work, but it seemed like the perfect day to stay home.  She had accrued some vacation time so there would be no loss in her paycheck.  Marie stuttered through her acceptance of Adrian’s absence, but did not ask any questions.

Marie, what’s wrong? Adrian finally asked.

Andrew is fit to be tied… she said hesitantly, and he’s going to come unglued when I tell him this.

Why?  What’s wrong? Adrian pretended to be both innocent and ignorant.

I have no idea, but he keeps pacing from his office to yours and back again.

    Adrian sighed.

Why, what’s going on? Marie’s curiosity was natural.

I can’t really get into it, Adrian deflected.

Oh, okay, Marie seemed either irritated or disappointed.

Maybe we can meet later and I can try to explain.  But I won’t be coming into work today, tell him I’m sick.

Ok, will do.  But I don’t like lying.

Can you let me know when he’s left for the day so I can pick up my laptop?  I’ll probably work from home for the rest of the week.

    Marie sighed, I guess so.

Adrian hung up the phone and had the passing thought that she should use the day to find another job.  But this one was good pay and great benefits.  Sleeping with the boss had not been listed on the offer letter though.

She spent the entire day on the couch in her yoga pants and an old tee shirt.  For lunch she found a great little deli that delivered, so she ordered up several sandwiches to make it through the rest of the week, including chips and pickles
