About this ebook

Hazel is a beautiful, popular high school junior with her whole life ahead of her.  Jaden is the new boy in town, as quiet and stoic as a teenager can be.  From the moment they meet, their lives entwine.  They’re meant to be together, simply fated since they laid eyes on each other.

Together, they outlast the odds for years, through high school and college, loving and learning as they go.  Headed in different directions, as Hazel develops a talent for writing and speech, while Jaden has harbored a romantic athlete inside him all his life, somehow they stay as united as two souls in love should be.  But there are warnings, small signs which hint at an impending disaster.  What will happen when that tragedy strikes, and upends everything they made together?

    Chapter One:  They Met

As the clock on the wall tickled slowly toward the start of 3rd period, Hazel sighed and looked at the stack of rainbow binders on the long desk beside her.  She was a junior now and the maze of high school hallways no longer seemed so long and intimidating as they once did.  Even though the school year just started up again yesterday, she already mapped out exactly what routes to take and locker stops to make between classes to still have a minute or two to spare talking with friends at their lockers.  An easy year stretched ahead of her.

Students kept filing into the computer lab as she watched, and even after the bell rang the teacher waited five more minutes for everyone to finish arriving before she started to take attendance.  Hazel listened to every voice, even though she couldn’t always see the speaker around the bulky monitors, smiling to herself as she picked out all the trembly freshmen still adjusting to the bustle of finding their way around.

Today we’ll actually start learning. Though some of her friends might have called her a nerd for thinking that, some with more seriousness than others, she found herself looking forward to it.  Maybe as an aspiring writer she should’ve taken a typing class much earlier in her life but seeing as she’d only started to consider writing in a more serious manner over the summer, she supposed she could excuse herself.

She heard her own name be called and answered absentmindedly, plucking at a bit of fluff on one of her
