About this ebook
This is a collection of three science fiction short stories and is suitable for all age groups.
Robot Virus – Mabel was an excellent maid, but suddenly one morning, she stopped functioning. Lee Jim, her owner, reloaded some files into her and got her working again. Across the city, robots were breaking down and became a wide-spread epidemic across the city. Robots failed to recognize the simplest commands and became nonfunctional. Fires burned out of control since the entire firemen were APs. The AP teachers stopped teaching the children and just sat in front of the classroom. Lee Jim was the systems security manager for I-TEC Robotics, Inc. and it was up to him to figure out how to combat this virus.
The Vengeance Robot – Since the invention of the Artificial Person (AP), many things had changed in society. However, violence against the weak was still happening. Susan stumbled onto a woman being severely beaten. She realizes that the man is her former husband that abused her when they were married. The police can't do anything about the victim's beating since she was actually an AP. After seeking help from her programmer boyfriend, Susan finds out that she may be able to get her vengeance.
Aliens Stealing Fat – What if a fat person could lose weight just by wearing a string of pretty beads? A woman found out when Boney approached her at Wal-Mart and offered to let her try the diet beads free for a week. The beads worked and she was soon losing a lot of weight. The beads only lasted a short time so the person needed to buy new ones weekly. Boney had a secret source for the beads so could keep selling them and was on the road to becoming rich.

Mabel, bring the coffee and toast over here,
Lee Jim said impatiently. I haven't got all day!
He looked at the kids and winked, it's hard to get good help these days.
Mabel brought the coffee over and poured him a cup, then just stood there with a blank look on her face.
Where is the toast, Mabel?
Lee Jim asked.
That is a new word,
answered Mabel. Would you like it added to my personal data base?
What is going on?
Lee Jim said, as a puzzled expression came over his face. Toast is not a new word since you have been getting toast for me every morning. Now walk over there and pick it up before it gets cold.
They had only had Mabel for about a month and everyone in the family had gotten use to her waiting on them hand and foot. She was an artificial person or AP for short and was an excellent all around maid. She had been expensive, but worth it for all the work she did.
Lee Jim got up and went over to the counter and showed Mabel what toast was. Noted and entered into my personal data base,
Mabel said.
As soon as breakfast was over, Jill asked Mabel to clear the dirty dishes off the table.
What are dishes and a table?
Mabel asked, staring straight ahead.
Jill, Lee Jim's wife, as well as the two children, got up and gathered around Mabel. She must be broken,
remarked Billy, wise beyond his 14 years.
I guess so,
agreed nine year old Cara, staring at the AP. She doesn't know anything.
What do you think is wrong with her, Dad?
Billy asked.
I don't know,
Lee Jim said, maybe it's a bad computer chip. She doesn't seem to recognize objects.
Billy, I want you to clean off the table and put everything into the recycler.
Lee Jim said.
But, Dad, why do I have to do it! Dirty dishes and half eaten food make me sick,
he said, trying to look pale. I don't think that anything is wrong with Mabel. I think she is just lazy!
"Son, when I was
