Billy Cooper has just invented a time portal. Once he cracked the physics the rest came easily. Building the device took him only six months, cracking the physics took him eleven years. That put him at the ripe old age of twenty-nine.

Can you imagine being able to go to anytime you want into the future? Or better still, the past! Which year would you go to? For Billy it was more important to succeed than the adventure. No-one before has been able to crack the physics for time travel, but he now has. He has often wondered just what he would do once he completed the inevitable task of inventing a device which could send him to any time he wished. He always knew that one day he would succeed, it was just a matter of time, not if.

First let me tell you a little about Billy. Well as you can imagine he must be a very clever young man. To be able to do what nobody else has ever been able to do, and to do it at such a young age. Not even Einstein could achieve what young Billy Cooper has accomplished. He had always been into mathematics (amongst other things) and no, he is not a geek. He loves his sports like trail bike riding and he has even been known to go bungy jumping on a few occasions.

He lives in Liverpool Australia, he was actually born in Liverpool England and by coincidence his parents bought a house in Liverpool Australia. He was even born in the same hospital as John Lennon, which he is quite proud of. He is an only child and lives with his mother Winnie Cooper who is a Professor of Physics at one of the top Universities in Sydney. His father was a lovely man who died of cancer when Billy was just a boy of four years old. His mother and father were complete opposites, his mother the academic and his father a postman. Talk about opposites attract, but love is love, it doesn’t seem to know any boundaries when it comes to occupation.

Numbers always came easily for young Billy. His mother was even a little envious of him, being as how she had to study tirelessly throughout her whole life to achieve her current standing in the field of physics. For Billy, he just took it for granted that he could solve equations by using something in his mind that always seemed to baffle other people as to how he could solve the answers to problems no-one else could even attempt. Some had even said he was a savant, extremely brilliant in one field though incapacitated in others. This of cause was not true, Billy was a well-rounded young man in all areas though he excelled brilliantly in the field of physics.

So, what does one do with a time portal? The funny thing was though, Billy wasn’t even interested in travelling to another time, he just wanted to be able to do it, and do it he did. The best thing about his time portal device was that it was small enough to fit inside his jeans pocket. It was about the same size as a mobile phone and it even looked a little similar, having a touch screen for commanding the time, day and date of the time he wished to visit.

But does he even want to visit another time? Well the answer is simple, he had to try it out. He knew it would work, but still, he had to test it. The problem was he had to test it on himself. He had tried transporting an apple though the portal but the apple wouldn’t go through, it just bounced back off the portal wall. It seemed at first nothing could enter, so he tried sending his cat Phoebe through and she sailed on through without a problem. She was missing for the night but there she was the next day grooming herself on the kitchen bench top as if nothing had happened. So, it seemed obvious to Billy that only living material could enter the portal.

His dilemma was, should he go himself, or should he just sell it and make millions of dollars? Surely though, the buyer would want some proof that it really worked. No-one would just buy it on his say so, he would have to film himself entering the portal and then returning the same day with tomorrow’s newspaper. That would be proof enough.

I can tell you that young Billy was very nervous. Who wouldn’t be? Anything could go wrong, nobody has ever done anything like this before. He secretly felt it would work but still, who knows?

    What if he
