10 Games to Play in the Car with Your Kids by Mandy Nolan.

Nothing brings a family closer together than time in the car.

There is no escape. The car is the place where many of us have lost our mind. It’s where we give long lectures to our hostage passengers about how they are ruining our lives. It’s where we scream, where we weep, and where we vow to be better parents next time.

The car is the place of lost biscuits, leaky water bottles and weird smells.

Long trips with the kids are generally the cause of hair loss, anxiety and despair. But the car doesn’t have to be a place of horror. It can be a place of fun and connection.

So here are some simple games to play with your kids to improve the process for all of you.

1. I went shopping... An oldie but a goodie. But it’s lost its pizzazz. It’s great for seeing which of you has early-onset dementia. I suggest you update it. I went shopping at Aldi and I bought... a unicycle. I went shopping at Aldi and I bought a unicycle and a violin. I went shopping at Aldi and I bought a unicycle, a violin and a camping toilet. It’s middle-aisle cerebral mania. And best of all, you don’t have to pack your own bags.
