    As I stood at the pulpit, I wondered if this church would survive.  When I took over as pastor two years ago, this small Southern Baptist church had been going downhill for a while.  I thought I could help revive it, but it had continued to slide.

    This Sunday morning was no exception, and the church was only a fourth full.  That might have not been too bad if the people attending had been good contributors, but most of them were older people on Social Security.  They didn't have much money to give to the church.

    I had to take an outside job selling insurance to make ends meet since the church had been forced to cut my salary by half.  Although I hated the new job, I accepted it since I knew they couldn't afford the larger salary. Unfortunately, it takes money
