Johnny complains that he has a stiff neck and one day it leads to an operation by the doctors. Finally, they discover that there is a big tumor, the size of an orange.

Chapter One: Introduction
Death Be Not Proud
by American writer John Gunther was first published in 1949. It is a memoir that takes its name from Holy Sonnet X
by John Donne.
The story of the novel was presented in a 1975 television movie. The star cast in the movie included Robby Benson as Johnny Gunther and Arthur Hill as John Gunther.
The story of the book revolves around struggle of Gunther’s teenage son who was suffering from a brain tumor. It records the boys struggle to overcome the tumor, and his death at the age of seventeen.
The story describes the time when his son, Johnny, experiences the first symptoms of the tumor soon after being given a clean bill of health.
Johnny complains that he has a stiff neck and one day it leads to an operation by the doctors. Finally, they discover that there is a big tumor, the size of an orange.
Johnny’s struggle is described in every minute detail in the book. His parents take to every possible available recourse to help their son. They seek every available medical help to treat their son.
Eventually, Johnny overcomes the tumor, but he unfortunately dies of a cerebral hemorrhage, which takes place on the day of a medical checkup, one day before he and his family are to go on vacation.
