Unwavering Love - Michael P Buckley

    CHAPTER 6

Beverly explained there are only five survivors from a total of 187 people on the plane and John was not one of them. Beverly could not talk anymore or cry, she was in shock. Susan left and went outside tears falling and pain like she never experienced before.

She could have had sex with John and maybe carrying his child, now that will never happen. She wanted to make love to him so bad and held out for college, now she lost him. She will not go to college, she’s had it, without John there is no future for her. All her dreams and plans include John. Dale and Joe paced back and forth outside, not knowing what to say or do. Angela wept; John was like a son to her.

Beverly started to cry and could not stop. Life had turned its ugly head for the worst. Now Dale and Beverly lost a son, Angela lost someone as close to a son that anyone could have. Joe had lost a good friend and Susan lost the love of her life. The church called to arrange for ceremonies at the funeral home, both Dale and Beverly refuses to have Ceremony’s for their son’s death.

They never found him and presumed missing, but not dead. Until they find the body there is no funeral services.

Susan did not go to college, three years later she helps Angela with her property’s and refuses to date anyone. Joe had Married Angela they had a small wedding with Dale and Beverly and Susan as the only guests. The motorcycles sit unridden and the dogs run in the fence in yards but even the dogs are no longer happy.

A few weeks later Dale picks up the phone.

    Hello can I help you?

This is the Louisiana police department and we have a young man who’s twenty who lost most of his memory and he has been living in the swamps with an elderly couple that nursed him back to health, but they are primitive, no phones or internet. We found him staggering along the road and asked to see his driver’s license and it says he is John Erickson, he’s not in good shape very weak and skinny. Barely alive.

Officer please take him to the local hospital and give us the address we will catch the next flight out. Thank you.

Dale Screamed at the top of his lungs, everyone came running, the dogs went nuts and everyone panicked. When they all arrived, Beverly, Susan, Angela and Joe asked what’s wrong, The Louisiana police department just called. They found John, he’s skinny and almost dead but he’s alive and lost most of his memory.

He told the police to bring him to a hospital they gave me the address and I said I would be on the next flight.

It’s going to be bad, he’s almost dead, and might die before we get there, a good chance he won’t even know who we are.

That’s my son, I’m going, I will update everyone when I get there.

He belongs to all of us, we are all going, I will rent a private jet to fly us all to Louisiana. Be ready to fly in one hour. Angela said.

There is a plane waiting on us, just got off the phone, my real estate company will see that the dogs are well fed and cared for.

Everyone loaded up Angela’s SUV and brought what they had time to pack and it was off to the airport. Everyone’s nerves were on edge and they hoped they’d make it to the hospital in time.

There were enough tears to sink a battleship. Finally, they arrived in Louisiana and after renting a SUV they headed to the hospital not knowing what they’d find.

Beverly went to the front desk and spoke with the nurse. She said a doctor wanted to speak with them before they’d see John.

The doctor talked to everyone a few minutes later. He will Live, the condition will depend on his recovery. He hit his head hard and has a large scare on his forehead. The skulls not fractured and how much brain damage is unknown at this time.

His left leg had a fracture and healed without having it reset correctly. He will require specialists and a long recovery. They’d determine if there still is brain damage or what condition is brain is in. A neurologist will have to determine the damage. The hospital they have is an emergency room.

He’s in stable condition now and can travel in a day or two. Wish there was better news. He might not know who visits him, memory lost from a coma is often severe and sometimes permanent. Feel free to visit him, no more than two people at a time.

One person can stay with him over night and the visiting time will be one hour only to include everyone. He needs his sleep. Good luck. Thank you, doctor. Beverly and Dale go
