About this audiobook

Harrison

I loved Laney Landers before most people learned to read. Blonde hair, blue eyes that rivaled the ocean, and an invisible halo over her head. She stole my heart the same day she threw sand in my face. What started as a friendship grew into so much more. I thought she'd be my forever. But then life threw me a curveball and I changed course. Laney moved on and found a different happily ever after . . . While I wallowed in grief and regret. And now she's here, reminding me that I made the biggest mistake of my life.

Laney

I loved Harrison Montgomery since the first day he saved me a seat in kindergarten. He was my best friend, my own real-life prince. He taught me to ride a bike and showed me how to shoot a three-pointer in basketball. He was my first kiss. My first love. My first heartache. My first everything. I don't believe in happily ever after anymore. Harrison forced me to write a new ending to my story. But seeing him again after all these years-it makes me want things I shouldn't. Because that chapter of my life is closed forever.

I'll admit, I'm a sucker for a "childhood BFFs" romance, and a sweet "highschool sweethearts were truly in love and lost virginity to each other" theme is also a sentimental favorite of mine.

So I'm not sure why, in the end, this book sort of fell flat, for me. It was like I was completely engaged as it went along, but in the end was just left....wanting.

Charlie really was done dirty, and....I mean....is it normal being quite that okay with having family members walk in on you with your tits out?! Then there was the Big Drama at the end which just seemed sort of out of nowhere. If it had been hinted out or foreshadowed a little more maybe it wouldn't have felt so tacked on, but....it was almost like the author realized, "SHOOT, absolutely nothing has happened in this book! I better come up with something!" Heck, even Mom's cancer, the Big Impetus for the h upending her life and "coming home", got brushed off after the first relationship-advancing helicopter ride or two.

And finally, in what is absolutely the pettiest feedback I've ever left a book, I was super turned off by the whole "smashing wedding cake in each other's faces" scene. But that's a pet peeve of mine, sooo.....

This was my first book by this author, and don't get me wrong, I WILL try her again! But while this was an enjoyable 3.5 star read for me, it just turned out to be ultimately forgettable, and I can't make myself round it up to 4 stars.
