About this audiobook

The last place Sophia Lancaster wanted to return to was Poplar Falls. It's the place that holds all the painful memories and unanswered questions she's ever had. One phone call causes her life to take a turn, forcing her back to the town she hasn't stepped foot in over twenty years.

And right into the path of Braxton Young.

His blue eyes, sinful smile, and rough exterior are no match for Sophia. She's there for one reason, and it isn't to fall in love. The sooner she can get out of this small town and back in New York City-the better.

However, fate doesn't care for either of their desires. Instead, they're forced to deal with each other, finding their differences aren't as great as they thought. Each day brings them closer to friendship and the possibility of something more. The answers she seeks might not only break her and Braxton apart but also her heart.

“Time is the one thing we waste more of than anything else.”

This follows Sophia who at the age of 12 in the middle of the night was woken up by her mother to fleeing the ranch and away from her father to move to New York. She is now 32 and a family member has passed away in the place she once called home. It’s been 20 years can the truth of why she left be revealed?

This was just good. I enjoyed the story but the execution of some bits fell flat for me. I also listened to the audiobook and it wasn’t my favourite. Sophia and Braxton didn’t really like each other at first but it didn’t feel like an enemies or grump element to the characters. It was a little back and forth between them so I wasn’t fussed on the relationship growing. Then they kissed and started getting closer. Personally I didn’t feel much for them. Towards the end when you find out why she was taken by her mother the execution of the aftermath was shocking. The mother deserved worse then what happened she took 20 years of her daughters life and her rocking up to the ranch is just strange as well. Worst part was Sophia wanted to go back home and was set to leave then everything came out the MMC didn’t have to lift a finger for her to stay which I thought we would have got.

I've read this story a couple of times and love it. I love how the story unfolds and we learn bits and pieces from each character. How Sophie feels about what she's been told and then the flip side. Brad and how he had made up his mind on Sophie and their shared past. Great story need the rest of the series.

A great start to a series that will undoubtedly give all the feels.

I loved getting to watch the H and h slowly change the preconceived notions and feelings they each had towards one another right from the start. It made for some great angst and deep emotions, but they were all handled in perfect depth.

The world and character building were wonderful and the plot and character dynamics in this book were unique in such a good way—I wish there were more books out there similar to this dynamic. Both narrators did a wonderful job bringing this story to life for listeners.

I’m off to audible to get myself the rest of the series as it becomes available. ?
