WOW. Very unexpected how I feel about this book! Usually I skip over sports romances because I don’t care for the sports talk... But I needed a book to get me through my rough workday and I was very pleasantly surprised with how this one turned out! I actually got tingles!! I’ve said it before, there is a different element to audiobooks. When you have a great narrator that whispers and can really emphasize the feels of the character, it brings the book to a whole new level. I had to start writing about this book before I even finished it!! I’m not even done and I know I’m going to listen to the rest of the series, I’m super excited. (I’ve become a book puck bunny!)

This book is jam packed with tension from the very start. We have Vaughn and Natalie, or Allie as she introduced herself, who have had a magical amazing one night stand in Vancouver. She knew who Vaughn was the whole time and wanted to live out a great night for herself. Vaughn hates that Allie snuck out when he thought they could’ve had more than one night.

When Vaughn sees Allie again for the first time in months, he gets pissed finding her hanging out with his teammates when she specifically said she doesn’t date hockey players. But he quickly finds out that she lied the whole time and is his captains baby sister. He knows getting involved with his her would put his entire career at risk since the captain and him have a history of being enemies... however he can’t seem to forget about the one night he had with Allie. Allie knows her brother will not be ok with what happened between them months ago, and so she wants to stay away from Vaughn to protect him and the team from getting into more fights.

Of course these two can only resist each other for so long... I love this book because of everything flowing together to complete it. We have a forbidden romance with lots of tension, we have side characters that feed the enemies theme, and great banter with them. We have heated scenes, and some heart ache.... this book has it all!! I was so overwhelmed and in love that I have gone back to listen to it AGAIN right away! This is a must read and I think it might even need to be added to my TBBL.....

I am new to Mira Lyn Kelly’s Books and she has quickly been added to my list of favorites! I binged the Back to You series over the weekend and was elated to find her Slayer’s Hockey series on Scribd. I love that its written in the same world as her first series, so we get to hear the stories of supporting characters, plus catch up with the couples, from the previous series.

This book features Allie, aka Natalie Baxter, little sister of Slayer’s team captain, Greg Baxter (Dirty Player) and Vaughn, Greg’s rival since childhood who was recently traded to the the team. She’s off-limits, unless he wants to ruin his career. She grew up in the shadows of her brother’s hockey career, so does not date players. When it’s meant to be, rules are made to be broken.

The Romance... It took a bit of time but it was an even developed over several months.

OMG… so much fun, what a read. Only thing that would make this better would be if it was football instead of hockey. Don’t quite know why hockey has the corner on romance but I’m about to become a fan. There’s just nothing better than a devoted modern day caveman with a heart of gold.
