About this audiobook

Suzie Cain has more problems than she can count—the least of which is the fact that, if she touches a person, that person’s going to die within the week.

That, at least, she can work with. If people want to give her money to hang out with terrible people, well—it isn’t anyone’s idea of a good time, but it’s a living.

She has bigger problems. For starters, she doesn’t know who she is. Oh, she knows she’s Suzie, orphan and foster kid. She knows she’s dangerous. But why? Where did she come from? Her only clue is an old photo of a very angry woman with some sort of…shadow hovering behind her and a strange poem—or is it a curse?—written on the back.

And now she’s picked up a new problem, a biker named Ace who seems to be tracking her across state lines. He’s operating under the assumption that Suzie is a mercenary for hire, just like he is—and he doesn’t like the competition. But when she’s got the chance, she doesn’t touch him and she doesn’t know why.

If Suzie can break her curse, she can change her luck.

But life is never that simple. Because of course not.

Editor's Note

Intriguing Urban Fantasy...

An urban fantasy with a happy ending, Anderson’s “The Last Friend You’ll Ever Have” presents an intriguing world, one that’s just like ours — except if the book’s protagonist, Suzie, touches anyone, that person will die within a week. A contract assassin, Suzie ’s on the hunt to find out where her powers come from so she can try to get rid of them, or be alone for the rest of her life. Her book is a fast-paced adventure with lots of clever twists, and Anderson’s writing is sharp and evocative.

Not the best ..not the worst. It has a HEA in a different sense than others . it's certainly different. Worth a try.

While some of the internal monologue is redundant and annoying, there is a decent story within. Just hard to get through the redundancy at times.

Super interesting story. Was a random rec from a friend, and I am glad I gave it a shot! It's got good characters, and explains the world premise well throughout.

Just awful. It’s essentially 90% droning internal monologue filling out what could have been a reasonably interesting short story.

This is not my typical romance novel, but thought I’d try something new. It took a couple chapters, but I was completely hooked. During the second half of the book I could barely put it down. Loved it!

Awesome story line and unique concept! A lot of detail but it felt stretched out at one point. I did however, enjoy the shock value. Not really a romance, even though the cover looks like it. The two characters cross paths a few time but only really become the main theme in the last +- 10 chapters. Lastly, I'm not a fan of the title, no idea how it fits the story. Overall a 3.5!

Anyone know the guys name she is obsessed with? I don't think it was mentioned enough in the story.

This book needs a giant flashing neon trigger warning. Graphic depiction of assault.

I thought the concept of this book was really interesting and very different to other books I've read or listened to. The main characters were likeable and the narrator did a great job of individualising and fleshing out their personalities. Sexual desire, and the desire to be touched and loved is a big part of this book but i feel like this story is very much expressing the wish, the dream for those who are stuck in an abusive relationship, to be saved by their own Angel of Vengeance.

I do think to those who are in an abusive relationship, this book will resonate but, I hope it also offers a bit of escapism for them as well.

    WORD OF WARNING
I've never experienced rape in a book before and i can't say i want to again. Having said that, it is written in a way that really highlights the terrible experience that rape involves and in a way that doesn't make light of, nor exaggerates the issue, respecting those who have experienced rape themselves. I would make one note, in the book she said she was almost raped but from my perspective, what she experienced was definitely rape.
