About this audiobook

Everyone in town knows Thea’s past. Dead mother, missing father…the girl who couldn’t remember. Now she’s returned to our small Texas town to start her life over.

She’s handful of a woman, sexy, vibrant, and she gets my blood hot whenever we interact. I shouldn’t be lusting after her at all since I’m the town’s sheriff and I’m sworn to protect her. Worse—she’s my best friend’s little sister so that whole hands-off policy should be firmly in place.

Unfortunately, it’s not.

See, each time we interact, I fall further under her spell and all those promises to keep my hands off her seem so stupid. But even as we fall into bed, evil is lurking in the shadows ready to strike.

As the killer ramps up the tension, I will have to do everything I can to keep Thea safe from harm, even if it risks my heart.

Editor's Note

Secrets Uncovered...

The titular heroine in Schroeder’s romantic suspense, “Saving Thea,” returns to her small hometown after a failed marriage. The town believes her father murdered her mother, only Thea does not — and tries to prove it. She’s helped by her brother’s best friend, who’s now the local sheriff. “Saving Thea” sounds dark, but it’s got plenty of lovely romance to lighten up the pages, and Schroeder’s writing is sharp and clear.

Melissa Schroeder

From an early age, USA Today Bestselling author Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book. Since her first published book, Grace Under Pressure, Mel has had over 60 short stories, novellas, and novels published. She has written in genres ranging from historical to contemporary to futuristic and has worked with 8 publishers although she handles most of her publishing herself. She is best known for her Harmless and Santini series. After years of following her military husband around the country and world, Mel happily lives with her family in horse and wine country in Northern Virginia.

Great story, enjoyed the intrigue but figured it out early. The romance was good. Sexy but not over the top.

Good story but once again poor narrator!
A narrator is a strong part of an audio book!

(Duncan and Thea). This was a great story. So Thea is back in her small Texas town after dealing with some hardships, including a recent divorce and a car accident. Duncan is her brother's best friend and the new sheriff of said town. They have a sort of re-meet-cute when she returns and Duncan is instantly interested in her, though he tries to pull that whole bro code mess because of her brother. But Thea is in trouble and her life is in danger, so Duncan will do whatever he has to to protect her. The chemistry between these two is kinetic even though there's a lot of push/pull from Duncan at first. There are too many suspects and way too much history involved in the mystery. I lived it. The plot twist was awesome, I had two options for the culprit but the author gave a nice little plot twist. Loved it.

I listened to the audio book and I still ended up skipping a bunch. Why? Wee maybe bc the stalker became obvious by chapter 4 and solidified by chapter 6. Hard for me to get over the fact that no one looked into him after his was the first name she mentioned hanging around their house a lot. Huge red flags EVERYONE was ignoring
