About this audiobook

A man tempted by desire…
Will Patton is desperate to leave the small town of Lost Coast Harbor and rebuild his struggling legal career. To do that, he's going to expose the dirty police chief—but he never expected to be so drawn to the man's irresistible daughter.

A woman afraid to trust…
Erin Grady will do anything to bring a mental health clinic to Lost Coast Harbor, even if it means accepting money from the local police chief—the father who abandoned her. She's willing to overlook where the money came from, until a determined and very sexy prosecutor literally crashes into her life…

A town full of corruption…
The darkness in Lost Coast Harbor runs deep and wide—and exposing the truth will require Erin and Will to reveal their hearts…no matter the risk.

Editor's Note

Dark Secrets...

Small towns aren’t always idyllic Mayberrys; sometimes they hold dark secrets, like the town in the “Lost Coast Harbor” series. The police chief is corrupt, and a lawyer in the town can prove it. The police chief’s daughter knows too, but she’s desperate to build a mental health clinic and will look the other way when it comes to financial donations. Family, romance, and politics intertwine in this complicated book.

Eve Kincaid

Eve Kincaid is a lapsed lawyer who decided that fictional crime was more fun than the real deal. When she’s not writing about mysterious women and the men who love them, she’s probably shopping for books, lipstick, or imported cheeses to complement a nice California pinot noir. While I enjoyed much of the story, there was a bit that was annoying with the main characters, especially their lack of communication. On to the next book in the series.

Why did he wait 4 days at the end of the book? He could have texted her.

Although this is not a five star when compared with some thing like pride and prejudice, it’s well written and the storyline is inventive. It kept me involved. In fact, the whole series has been fun. I look forward to reading the books that follow.

My rating range of this story... 2 - 4 Stars
If significant, why? I actually rooted for bad things to happen to the h due to her TSTL tendencies!

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? Sort of

The back story... The H is stuck doing a job he doesn't like as the new DA in LCH and is looking for a big break to get to San Francisco. The h is a nurse that the H falls of his bike in front of... who also happens to be the estranged daughter of a person under a criminal investigation... the Police Chief.

The Romance... It definitely develops a bit better in this story but both are, again, wrapped up in their own agendas.

The drama explosion... The bad guys make their move.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? See final notes
    Was it OTT? Yup
    Separation involved? Slight
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Ok

Final Notes... This story would have been a 4 Star story... even with the near-constant angst and head babble but I couldn't get past the TSTL moments.

The h, in order to prove that she could take care of herself, put herself in dangerously stupid situations twice at the end of the story. After being rescued and before the evil bad guy is caught, she demands to go back to her house... the same house that a bad guy ransacked the day before... REALLY?

    AUTHORS
You don't have to make your heroine's stupidly stubborn to show that they are independent. There are tons of heroines that don't use obstinacy and defiance to show that they are independent and/or can live life without a man. As a male reader, that reads as a weakness instead of a strength. As a married male reader, my wife is my true North and her smart decisions have made my life immeasurably greater.
