Take a breath and still your mind.
Cast your inner eye toward the clutter inside,
Prepare to look for the beliefs that don’t serve you.
 
You’re not required to keep them if they’re not earning their keep.
Some ideas aren’t meant to be yours forever.
 
PAUSE…
If you’re honest, you’ve known this day was coming.
You’ve felt it for months, maybe years.
But when it’s easier to look away than face the mess,
It’s human nature to ignore the steady ache.
 
That strategy can work for a good long time,
Long enough to forget there’s a problem.
At some point, however, the mess will expand,
Making it harder to point your attention elsewhere.
 
 
PAUSE…
You’ll see signs in every direction,
Hints that something’s not working as it should.
You’ll feel the unease in your body,
And carry the weight in your heart.
 
You’ll even glimpse hints in the world around you,
As troubles seem to inexplicably multiply.
 
PAUSE…
As always, you have the choice to look away,
But deep down, you know that won’t help.
By the time you feel distress tugging at your spirit,
You’ve nearly reached the fork in the road.
 
Though it takes courage to point yourself into the wind,
You’re saving yourself pain in the end.
Change comes when you’ve outgrown what stands in your way,
And you lower your shoulder and press on.
 
PAUSE…
So take a deep breath and get ready,
For the time has come to let go.
You can rid yourself of what’s causing you pain,
Knowing that freedom waits on the other side.
