Description

The endurance coach behind CrossFit Games Champions Rich Froning, Matt Fraser, Tia-Claire Toomey, Katrin Davidstotter and 30 CrossFit Games Champions in totals joins the show. Chris Hinshaw has recently made his name as The Endurance Authority in the world of CrossFit in the last decade, but he has been a master of all things Aerobic Capacity long before his most recent rise to prominence. Following a career that saw him earn the honors of All American as a swimmer in College, Chris went on to compete as a World Class Professional Tri-Athlete. A 10x Iron Man Competitor, Chris had many notable finishes including a 2nd place overall finish at the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships. While his athletic background as an elite collegiate swimmer and professional tri-athlete are credentials enough, we learn in today’s episode that the road to becoming one of the most widely recognized CrossFit coaches on the planet was not the direct path you might expect. Chris shares his own athletic journey that led him to CrossFit. How he got started coaching CrossFit Champion Jason Khalipa. Why his assessment of the sport and validation of his athlete’s approach to the CrossFit Games forced the sport to adapt and what it meant for him and the sport to be named CrossFit’s Aerobic Capacity Subject Matter Expert. Chris shares his perspective on why he’s had such success in helping his athletes improve their performance. How he approaches identifying opportunities for improvement. The real metric he uses to determine if his coaching is successful. The conversation that forced him to jump into coaching full time. The approach that he uses to give his athlete’s a voice and increase buy-in. The idea of the interference effect, and how counter to popular perception endurance training actually helped an elite athlete like Rich Froning increase his explosiveness. With a clear passion for helping athletes and individuals reach their full potential, Chris the new sport and service horizons that he is currently expanding into. Why his Aerobic Capacity is a perfect hybrid that combines his passion for performance and data science.
