Description

Caraun Reid is a defensive lineman and 6 year veteran of the NFL. Drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 5th round of the 2014 NFL Draft, he has played in both starting and rotational roles for the San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. Longevity aside, Ken’s favorite stat about his fellow teammate is that the big man up front holds the distinction of scoring two Touchdowns as a Defensive Lineman in the NFL. Prior to the NFL Caraun was a two-time collegiate All-American at Princeton University, was touted on NFL Draft Boards as the top FCS NFL Draft Prospect of that class and was selected as a member of Senior Bowl All Star game his final season. In this show Caraun discusses what it was like to make the jump from the Ivy League into the NFL. The realities and daily operations of life in the NFL. The adversity he faced in his first NFL season and how his career could have been over nearly as soon as it began. He shares the investments he made himself made between years one and two. How a sports psychologist helped him regain his killer instinct and the realization that he needed to return to the skills that got him there. Operating in an environment of cutthroat competition and a carousel of coaches, Caraun warns the need to be discerning with who’s advice you take. He opens up about the mind-boggling truth behind NFL contracts and why when looking to sign timing is everything. From season ending injuries to tough business-related decisions, Caraun opens up about the adversity he’s faced in the NFL. More importantly he shares the mental approach that has kept him playing twice as long as the average NFL player. We discuss training. Joining a team mid-season and why he’s actually looking forward to being able train at home vs. being at a training camp this summer.  Follow Caraun: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raunreid Twitter: https://twitter.com/chopreid   Follow The Professional Athlete Podcast with Ken Gunter: Instagram: @the_professionalathlete Website: https://kengunter.com/ Ken Gunter YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRhgjkoSiJXAbS_MIasvvzQ/ Produced By: Justin Gunter, Ken Gunter Music By: Justin Gunter, Ken Gunter
