Description
Champion Mix Martial Artist and UFC Coach Bubba Jenkins joins today’s show. A former NCAA Division 1 All American and National Champion Wrestler, Bubba today fights in The Professional Fighters League. Bubba has notably fought in Bellator and the Brave Combat Federation where he recently won and defended his Featherweight title. A world class amateur wrestler, Bubba won the 2006 Freestyle Wrestling Junior World Championships, was a two-time National Finalist and All American for two different schools and won the Division 1 National Championship in his final match as a Senior. In today's show, Bubba shared the background and at times adverse environment that shaped him as a young athlete. What is was like to grow up in the athletic hot bed of Virginia Beach. He details his experience as a wrestler at Penn State and what it’s like to be one of the top collegiate athletes at a big time program. He recounts the incredible adversity he faced as the result of a coaching regime change that upended his life at the time and left him having to find a new school. We learn about the epic turn of events that saw him back in the National Championship competing against his former school against the very wrestler that was selected to take his place. Bubba explains what it’s like to make the jump from wrestling to Mix Martial Arts. Opens up about how he’s evolved as both a person and a fighter. Shares the need for him personally to go through the process of becoming a great fighter while building an international brand instead of taking the quick and perhaps premature path to the UFC. He talks about the new world class fight team he’s built around himself in Las Vegas and the opportunity to fight for One Million Dollars. Finally, he explains why right now all things are coming together at the perfect time as he enters this next exciting chapter of his professional fighting career. “From prospect to contender” -Bubba Jenkins Follow Bubba: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bubba_jenkins Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BubbaJSquad/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/BubbaJenkinsMMA Bubba Jenkins vs. David Taylor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LB4slcwkgQ Follow The Professional Athlete Podcast with Ken Gunter: Instagram: @the_professionalathlete Website: https://www.kengunter.com/ Ken Gunter YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRhgjkoSiJXAbS_MIasvvzQ/ Produced By: Justin Gunter, Ken Gunter Music By: Justin Gunter, Ken Gunter
