Happy LGBTQ+ Pride Month! We’re in week two of LGBTQ+ Pride Month and Jayzen couldn’t be more excited to welcome Telly Leung to the show. Telly has performed in seven Broadway shows, including the starring role in Disney’s Aladdin for over two years. He is also a producer, director and professor and always brings the unique “Telly” brand to the job, which as been shaped by his family history and by embracing his true self. Telly shares amazing wisdom that applies to whatever profession you are in.
In celebration of Pride Month, the Lead With Your Brand Podcast has partnered with Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, the premier organization working exclusively on LGBTQ workplace equality. Each week in the month of June, we’ll be featuring an out leader each with an amazing career story to share. Telly Leung
Telly was born and raised in New York City. He grew up in a traditional Chinese home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. After attending Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama (CMU), Telly made his Broadway debut in the revival of 'Flower Drum Song", starring Lea Salonga, as a member of the ensemble and an understudy for Wang Ta. Other Broadway credits include the final company of RENT , the revival of GODSPELL at the Circle in the Square Theater and ALLEGIANCE, creating the role of "Sammy" alongside Lea Salonga (MISS SAIGON) and George Takei (STAR TREK).
In June 2017, Telly Leung began his star turn as the title character in Disney’s ALADDIN on Broadway and he would continue to play the role for two years.
In 2013, Telly started TELLY LEUNG PRODUCTIONS and began his career as a producer.
