Description

Welcome to another episode of The Flagship Podcast. After taking a week hiatus for vacation, The Flagship returns with a loaded show Wednesday as Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes dive in to some of the hot topics to make headlines over the last week.
One of the most significant headlines that appeared this week came from the University of Texas athletic department when Texas AD Chris Del Conte submitted a letter to season ticket holders detailing the current plan to limit fan attendance to 50 percent for home games at Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium this season in accordance with state guidelines. But how will this work for the Longhorns if other teams are not doing the same? Chip and Taylor also turn their focus to the Big 12 Media Preseason Poll, which had Texas picked No. 3 in the conference by the league's media members. The show then turns its focus to news that went down over the weekend when redshirt junior cornerback Kobe Boyce announced his intention to step away from football for mental health reasons. Boyce's departure adds another blow to the secondary after junior cornerback Anthony Cook entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier this month, but what long-term impact could this have for the position and first-year cornerbacks coach Jay Valai?
The Flagship returns our weekly segment, Love it or Leave it, with this week's topics centered around Texas fans level of concern following the Longhorns losing out on legacy recruits Tommy and James Brockermeyer — whose dad played at Texas and brother is a current member on the Longhorns' roster — after the Top247 prospects committed to Alabama over Texas, changes Texas has brought to the football program in the renaming of the field to Campbell-Williams field and erecting a statue of Julius Whittier, if the Big 12 media got the Longhorns' preseason ranking right and more.
The Flagship Podcast — featuring co-hosts Chip Brown and Taylor Estes with Horns247 publisher Bobby Burton as a frequent contributor — hits the airwaves each Monday and Wednesday, and centers around all the latest happenings surrounding the University of Texas and college athletics, with big-name guests joining the show on a weekly basis. The Monday episode features an exclusive one-on-one interview with various high-profile guests, while the Wednesday show is Texas-specific pertaining to the latest news surrounding the University of Texas athletics, the Big 12 conference and college football as a whole.
