Description
Texas football is preparing to make its return to campus after the Big 12 Conference announced its plans to allow schools to begin voluntary workouts starting June 15. Assuming the football season starts as currently scheduled, the Longhorns will have two and a half months to begin preparations for the upcoming 2020 season, which will be a vital year for fourth-year head coach Tom Herman.
In this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes break down what’s at stake for Texas as the Longhorns approach Year 4 of the Herman era, and what needs to be accomplished over the next few months leading up to the start of the 2020 season, including the leadership growth among the roster. Senior QB Sam Ehlinger is one of several vocal leaders returning to the team in 2020, and will need to help bring others along as he prepares for his last season playing at the college level.
The Flagship then welcomes in a very special guest in Lifetime Longhorn and current NFL free agent Sam Acho for his take on the Longhorns and the latest with his NFL career after playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2019 season.
After Acho’s exclusive interview, Chip and Taylor bring back the 'Love it or Leave it' segment, when they weigh in on some hot topics surrounding both Texas football and the upcoming 2020 college football season plans. This week’s ‘Love it or Leave it’ includes how the SEC returning to campus a week earlier than Texas could put the Longhorns at a disadvantage, if Ehlinger is the best QB in the Big 12, whether or not decommitments at tight end should be a cause for concern and more.
Catch all of that and much more in this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast.
