Description

Spring football is right around the corner for Texas as the Longhorns make their way towards their first spring practice in two years. With Texas having several new coaches leading the charge ahead of the 2021 football season, some may wonder if this could be a rebuilding year for the Longhorns. But don't count out the level of talent head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff inherited in Year 1 on the job as they take over a roster with plenty of skill across the board.
On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 managing editor Taylor Estes and columnist Chip Brown weigh in on the Longhorns' talent at hand as Texas prepares to begin spring ball come March 23. The Flagship opens the show with the hosts thoughts on players who should be deserving of preseason offensive and defensive MVP honors, including two sophomores who didn't see starting action until late in the 2020 season. The Flagship shifts gears to hoops as the Longhorns' up-and-down late season performances continue under Shaka Smart and what a March Madness collapse could mean for the future of the Texas basketball program. The hosts also touch on the UT baseball team, which has won five of the last six games following opening the season with an 0-3 start against three Top 10 opponents.
After a short break, The Flagship returns with more football talk, including what Casey Thompson could bring to the Longhorns if he continues where he left off in the 2020 Valero Alamo Bowl game, why Alfred Collins could be poised for a monster year and the confidence level in Texas hoops winning their first NCAA Tournament games under Smart's watch.
Catch all of that and much more on this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast.
