Description

The 2021 college football season has officially come to a close, but Texas football is far from having a quiet offseason entering Year 2 of the Steve Sarkisian era. The Longhorns are set to return to campus next week to kickoff the start of the spring semester while Sarkisian and his staff continue their search of adding instant impact playmakers to the roster from the transfer portal.
On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes take a look at some of the key names the Longhorns are targeting in the transfer portal, including a recent prospect entering the mix in TCU transfer edge rusher Ochaun Mathis. The Flagship discusses where Texas stands with Mathis, in addition to some other key transfer targets in Oklahoma WR Mario Williams, Alabama TE Jahleel Billingsley and Alabama LB Drew Sanders. The Flagship then shifts focus to guys returning to the roster in 2022, starting with the quarterback room. Chip and Taylor weigh in on what the realistic expectations are for the Texas QBs this season with the addition of Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers and four-star signee Maalik Murphy, and how the QB battle for the starting role may be a work in progress this spring while the Longhorns await some of the key o-line signees, who are slated to enroll at Texas this summer. The Flagship then takes a look at Texas men's basketball after the Longhorns bounced back from a head-scratching loss last weekend at Oklahoma State with a dominant win over rival Oklahoma Tuesday night in the Frank Erwin Center.
After a quick break, The Flagship returns with this week's Love it or Leave it segment, with topics ranging from positions of concern for the Longhorns entering 2022, the on-going rebuild inside the football program and how crucial getting into a rhythm will be for Texas hoops as the Longhorns make their way through Big 12 Conference play.
Texas fans won't want to miss this week's loaded episode of The Flagship Podcast.
