Description

All eyes of Texas are on Ohio State transfer QB Quinn Ewers as he continues to weigh his options after entering the transfer portal last week. Texas has positioned itself in a prime spot with the highly touted quarterback transfer but still has competition from a few in-state programs that are also in the mix with Ewers.
On the mid-week episode of The Flagship podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes weigh in on the on-going saga surrounding Ewers' future plans as Texas continues to make a push to land the highly sought after signal-caller. The Flagship addresses how Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) earning potential could help the Longhorns in their recruiting pitch with Ewers.
Sticking with NIL talk, The Flagship also covers one of the latest position group NIL initiatives for Texas, 'Pancake Factory' as part of Horns with Heart non-profit organization, which will pay UT scholarship offensive linemen $50,000 annually to participate in charitable endeavors in the community and beyond. Chip and Taylor discuss how this new o-line NIL initiative couldn't have been launched at a better time as Steve Sarkisian and his staff continue to work the recruiting trail in hopes of landing some key offensive line targets leading up to next week's early signing day — including five-star OT Kelvin Banks, who's back on the market since he decommitted from Oregon after Mario Cristobal took over as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes.
The Flagship also takes a look at some of the latest roster moves for Texas, with a trio of players on defense announcing their return for the 2022 season and other Longhorns entering the transfer portal. As always, The Flagship then delivers our listener-favorite 'Love it or leave it' segment, with this week's topics focused on the Longhorns’ most significant transfer portal needs, if Ewers or 2023 QB prospect Arch Manning is a better QB addition for Texas and much more!
