Description
Texas football is back on the grind this offseason after the Longhorns kicked off the start of winter conditioning last week and added several new faces to the roster with 14 early enrollees joining Texas this spring.
On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes give the latest news coming out of winter workouts, including some early nuggets on how transfer QB Quinn Ewers is gelling with his new team. The Flagship delivers some injury news on a group of Texas players, including WR Troy Omeire and QB Maalik Murphy, and also discuss how big of an addition it is for Texas to add Wyoming transfer WR Isaiah Neyor as a mid-year enrollee. Chip and Taylor weigh in on how Neyor's arrival adds instant, proven depth to the wide receiver room, and credit new receivers coach Brennan Marion for staying on Neyor and getting him to flip from Tennessee to Texas.
The Flagship also recaps all that former Westlake coach and Texas QB Todd Dodge had to say about Ewers and the quarterback battle at Texas, and why the legendary TXHSFB coach thinks Ewers needing time to adjust to the college game may be in the best interest for the future of Texas football.
The Flagship then takes a look at Texas basketball with two major games on the horizon starting this weekend when Texas hosts Rick Barnes and Tennessee Saturday before the Longhorns hit the road for Lubbock, Texas to battle a Texas Tech team that may not have the warmest of welcomes for Chris Beard and the Longhorns.
After a quick break, The Flagship returns with our fan favorite 'Love it or Leave it' segment, with this week's topics focused on how the addition of Neyor to the receiver room compares to last season's addition of Xavier Worthy, what to make of transfer portal targets on defense, including former TCU edge rusher Ochaun Mathis and take a look at some of the former Longhorns who are still in the hunt for a Super Bowl bid.
Catch all of that and much more on the midweek episode of The Flagship Podcast.
