Description

The New York Times recently covered Markelle Taylor's story after he ran a 2:52 marathon in Boston at age 49, just one week after he was released from parole after serving an 18 year prison sentence in San Quentin State Prison in Northern California.  We reached out to Markelle, who graciously agreed to come on our podcast and share his journey from hurt to healing, which led him to the transformative 1000 Mile Running Club and the nickname, Markelle the Gazelle.  Markelle ran four marathons within San Quentin and broke the club record when he ran a marathon in 3:16.  Just six weeks after his release from prison, Markelle ran the Boston Marathon in 3:03 in 2019.  Markelle will be featured, along with several other members of the San Quentin 1000 Mile Running Club in the soon-to-be-released documentary, 26.2 to Life: San Quentin Marathon Documentary.  We appreciated Markelle's willingness to share his journey with us.  Please check out the links below for more information.
