Steve's New Neighbors - Mark Mulle

    Steve’s New Neighbors: New Enemies

    Book 10: Phantoms

    Day 1:

Welcome back, Adventurers! Steve here. I am sure that you have been wondering what we in the South Meadow have been up to since our TERRIFIC capture of Gilda the Grand and the defeat of her monstrous Wither Skeleton.

    Not much, to be honest.

Our village is thriving. Alex took a trip to the beach to inspect a new coral reef that she had heard about. She wants to build a fish tank in her mansion. I think that we should build it right in the middle of the village for everyone to enjoy. I bet that the Iron Golems would like to watch the colorful fish swim here and there among the coral and seaweed. Even those funny little sea pickles would help to make the tank glow all night long. Larry put an addition on his library which is now THREE floors high and bursting with books. He even allowed the clerics to place an enchanting table on the top level so that it could be strengthened by all of the knowledge within his walls of books. Elysa has been working with the blacksmiths to replace the brewing stands that were stolen from her fellow Witches. She has been traveling to the Nether with her friends to defeat the blazes that drop the magical rods that power their potions.

    What about me, you ask?

I have been enjoying my life as a hero and improving my mining skills. Bearded Benjamin, who happily moved into the caves beneath the village and has not surfaced since, has been showing me how to collect all sorts of useful items. He does not build much with them, only fills chest upon chest until they are bursting, and so I have had to spend some time in Larry’s library researching items that could be crafted from all of the ore and stone that I have gathered.

I have also expanded my garden and added a few pastures for animals of my own. Alex told me that I should build automated farms with my Redstone but that seems far too complicated. The most that I have been able to manage is a pumpkin farm with a few pistons. I have to activate it on my own with a stone plate and I have gotten my toes crunched a few times as a result. Perhaps some other time I will use a daylight sensor or something that will allow it to function even when I am away.

All has been quiet in the Overworld. For once, I had truly begun to believe that things were settling back to normal.

Elysa and her Witches ran into a wither skeleton the other day. They said he was normal and easy enough to defeat. He was nothing like the super-intelligent creature that Gilda the Grand had created with her potions.

I am glad that Gilda is locked away forever. Her power is too great. Her potions do things, create things, that should not exist. I have been able to sleep well knowing that she can never harm the Overworld again.
