Steve's New Neighbors - Gilda The Terrible Witch Book 8 - Mark Mulle

    DAY 1:

If you have been following my stories, I am sure that you are aware that we are in a load of trouble.

If you have not, I should probably fill you in.

Bearded Benjamin is a grumbly, grimy miner that Larry and I found in the Mesa Mountains. The tiny village that is located in the valley had thought that the mountains were haunted by a terrible creature that growled and wailed in the night.

It turned out that they were not haunted at all. No, the terrifying sounds that they had been hearing were, in fact, the echoing songs of the nearby hermit miner. Ben, who spent far too much time alone, had been convinced that the villagers had loved his singing and so he had done it as often as possible.

Once we discovered the kind old man in the mountains, the villagers were quick to welcome and befriend him.

As a gift, they provided him with a map to the Potion of Plenty. This was the ultimate treasure that Bearded Benjamin had been searching for over the course of many years. We followed the map, and located the hidden chest.

Then, and I am still not entirely certain how it had happened, Ben had been hit with a magical potion! The potion transformed him into a mindless beast whose only thought was to return to its master.

Our sweet, hillbilly Ben seemed to have lost control of his mind and his body.

Larry and I had searched for him tirelessly, but there was no sign of the miner.

Our only option had been to return to the village to warn them of what had happened.

The potion, a powerful tool created by the evil witch name Gilda the Terrible Witch, was about to fall back into her possession. If she was able to get her hands on it, she just might be able to take over our world. Or worse, destroy it.

The wither skeleton had been bad enough. Gilda, the witch that had created that monster, could only be worse!

My stomach felt as if it were tumbling and rumbling, flipping and flopping, raging and rolling. I tried to convince myself that I was simply hungry. Certainly it was nothing that a delicious cake could not cure! Except, I knew deep inside of me that this was not the case.

My stomach was in knots because I was worried.

I was terrified of the awful things that Gilda might do.

The South Meadow was finally safe. The wither skeleton had been defeated. How were we ever going to be able to destroy the strongest of all witches? Was that even possible?

For many years it had been believed that Gilda was long gone. Could that be true? Could the potion be leading Ben to where she SHOULD have been? Was our world really safe from her? Or, was there a chance that she could return?

I pondered these questions as we made our way back down the mountainside toward the village. Larry seemed distracted by his own thoughts as well. We did not speak.

    I
