Most people regularly experience anxiety and worry, especially in stressful situations like passing a test, speaking in front of an audience, participating in a competitive sport, or attending a job interview. You may feel tense yet focused when experiencing this type of anxiety, which enables you to work more quickly or at your peak. Sometimes anxiety can get us to act, motivating us to do something about our situation. However, chronic anxiety can also eat away at our well-being, often leaving us feeling miserable, helpless, and stuck.
In this book, we will look at the tools, techniques, and essential oils that you can use in your everyday life to relieve you from anxiety. Overcoming anxiety can be a long journey, and I want to congratulate you for taking the first step to change your life with this book.
Self-care is an important part of your daily routine and should be planned into your schedule in order to reap all the benefits.
Anxiety is a common emotion when dealing with daily stresses and problems. But when these persistent, excessive, and irrational emotions affect a person’s ability to function, anxiety becomes a disorder. Different types of anxiety disorders include phobias, panic and stress disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
When you’re experiencing it, you may notice apprehension or a sense of foreboding, worry, and muscle tension. You may feel keyed up and on edge. You may detect that the bodily changes associated with anxiety are much less pronounced and dramatic than fear. Yet anxiety and worry can last much longer than fear, often ebbing and flowing for days, weeks, months, or even years. This is partly possible because anxiety tends to be fueled more by what your mind does than by real sources of danger or threat.
And as hard as it may be to experience anxiety, it’s important to be mindful that you still need the capacity to experience anxiety. Why? Because it can help motivate you to get things done and keep you out of harm’s way.
How do You know if you are experiencing anxiety?
Some of the more common symptoms of anxiety include increased heart rate, palpitations, sweating, dizziness, headaches, upset stomach, shortness of breath, and difficulty concentrating.
Anxiety is a mental health condition, which means it’s a condition that can affect the way you think, feel, and behave. Even though it’s a mental health
condition, anxiety can affect how you feel physically in your body and mind.
There are different types of anxiety, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, phobias, and panic disorder. It’s common for people to experience more than one of these types of anxiety at the same time. Anxiety can also be present in conditions like depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Like all mental health conditions, anxiety is a medical condition. It can be treated, and without treatment, it can severely affect a person’s life.
We have all felt anxious at some point in our lives—usually before important events such as going for a job interview, starting a new job, or speaking publicly for the first time. Anxiety becomes a problem if we feel it too intensely over small matters. If anxiety prevents us from leading an everyday life, professional help is needed.
For example, you may be anxious about your child’s health, making mistakes at work, or the sales numbers for your business.
Some people struggle to pinpoint the causes of anxiety. If this is you, read on to get a clear idea of the cause of your anxiety. You should feel calmer after laying out your anxiety triggers in front of you and knowing how to address each one.
How do you turn off your mind at night?
The racing thoughts that occupy your mind during the day don’t automatically shut off because it’s time to go to bed. So, to slow down and calm your mind at night, you should ensure you have time to relax without mental stimulation to ease into sleep.
SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY
Anxiety comes and goes, only lasting a short time for most people. Some moments of anxiety are briefer than others, lasting anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. But for some people, these anxiety feelings are more than passing worries or a stressful day at work.
Nervousness, restlessness, or being tense
Feelings of danger, panic, or dread
Rapid heart rate - A racing heart beat is a common symptom associated with anxiety attacks. Most people will feel this in their chest rather than by actually testing their heart rate via a pulse point.
Rapidly breathing, or hyperventilation - If you realize you are panting or taking rapid, shallows breaths, this can signify an anxiety attack. You may feel pressure or a weight on your chest or as if you cannot inhale to your full lung capacity.
Tightness in the stomach - A feeling of a ball or fist in the pit of your gut can be a sign of an anxiety attack. This uncomfortable symptom of a panic attack is physically the same thing that happens in actual life-threatening situations, as fear provokes our bodies towards a fight-or-flight response to danger.
Increased or heavy sweating
Dizziness, tingling, changes in blood pressure, trembling, or muscle twitching - Many symptoms of an anxiety attack are due to an increase in blood pressure. As a result, you may experience dizziness or a tingling sensation in your arms, hands, and fingers.
Muscle tension, weakness, and lethargy - Muscular tightness in your neck, shoulders, and upper back can also be signs of having an anxiety attack. It’s common for people having an anxiety attack to end up in the emergency room thinking they are having a heart attack.
Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about
Insomnia
Chills - Getting the chills, shivering, or the opposite, sweating in the palms of your hands, armpits, or arms are signs you may be having a panic attack.
A strong desire to avoid the things that trigger your anxiety
Performing certain behaviors over and over again
Anxiety surrounding a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past, especially indicative of post-traumatic stress disorder
Feeling out of control - This is something that many people experience at the onset of an anxiety attack.
What you can do if your anxiety escalates into a panic attack
The most common signs of anxiety include racing thoughts, increased heart rate, fast breathing, stomach upset, shaking hands, sweating, and
