This book is not like any other book you have decided to read, and we are excited to release the power in these books to you.
The purpose of this writing is to provide you with more insight into what is going on cognitively. With backgrounds and experience in the mental health and substance-abuse fields, we have noticed a commonality in situations that people struggle with. We decided to combine our efforts to provide you with a simple how-to guide in battling these struggles (or strongholds, is what I like to call them).
Throughout these series, we will discuss many different topic areas along with ways of dealing with them. I want to strongly state that although we are professionals, this is not a replacement for dealing with extremely serious conditions. We STRONGLY suggest that you reach out to your local mental health professionals.
Don't worry. There is nothing to be afraid of when reaching out to them. They are people just like you with experience and knowledge in handling mental health-related issues.
This book was created with the passion of helping others who want a better understanding of certain mental health-related topics.
We hope that you are able to maximize your situation through our teachings.
Structure of the Book
This portion of the book will describe the overall structure of the book and how to use it correctly. Of course, we aren't there to determine how you use the book, but the closer you follow our instructions, the more you can get out of the book(s).
This book was designed to be a learning, growing workbook that will guide you on how to deal with some difficulties in your life.
This is NOT a solve-all solution or solve-all approach to everyone's life, but it can help in

This book has many different parts. I want to take a moment now to explain what you will be noticing.
Part A—Psycho-education
There will include many different parts of the book that have researched-based basic knowledge about various mental health-related topics that are related to the topic of the book.
Each book will begin with education about emotions.
This is to provide a basic understanding and working knowledge of what and how you may feel. This is extremely important to understand as it relates to the entirety of the book.
Each book will contain brief education over the topic subject you are reading. This part of the book dives into great depths of understanding the mental health-related topic.
So please, please, DO NOT skip this portion of the book. Reread this portion. Then read it again. It is there to assist you.
Part B—Scripture
We have put strength-related scriptures on the top of certain pages throughout the book.
This is in no attempt to convert or sway you toward a certain belief system, but there are scriptures that we have found helpful during different seasons of life.
We also are aware that there are believers that read our books, and this is added support during your journey.
We hope you enjoy them.
Part C—Motivational Quotes
Like the scriptures, we have added different motivational quotes throughout the book for added support.
Some of them you may have heard, while others you have not. The idea is for you to find one that you can relate to and draw more strength from.
Part D—National Hotlines
Due to the nature of these books, we understand that some people may have difficulty with certain areas of their life or know someone close to them that does.
We added these hotlines to be at your disposal to use whenever you feel the need.
They are located in many different places in the book to be readily available for use.
Please use them if you are feeling in need of extra help and not sure where to turn. They are completely free and have working professionals eager to help.
Part E—Journals
Journals have been used as a form to express yourself. In this book, we use the journal portion as a way to not only express yourself but also for reflection or reviewing your progress.
You will find the journal pages at the end of each subchapter. There are two types of reflective journals that you will use.
To reflect over your experience in the last ten days
To reflect on your learning progress over the last 30 days
These are important pieces of the book and your journey as they will guide you through your development process. They will also allow you to check your progress or lack of progress and make the correct adjustments moving forward.
Part F—Coping Skills
This is, as my father would call it, the meat of the book. This is where a lot of your individual growth will occur.
This is also my favorite part of the book.
In this portion of the book, there are two sections that you will find beneficial for you.
Section 1: Education—It outlines and describes what coping skills you are learning and how this coping skill will help you.
Section 2: Home Practices—This section allows you to apply a coping skill, of your choosing, to your life. You will be able to work through your struggles by applying these coping skills.
This section is extremely important to follow.
At the end of each subchapter, there will be a set of skills that you will be able to work on and learn from. You will find at the end of each chapter a list of all the coping skills in case you would like to try another type.
Part G—Testimony
You will notice at the end of the book(s) there will include a testimonial section. This is where we take the testimonies of everyday people who have experienced mental health struggles. It will describe what they were dealing with and how they were able to move forward.
Each testimony will be relatable to the topic of the book in some sort of way.
The purpose of this section is to allow you a better understanding that you are not alone in this struggle. That there are people who go through exactly what you are going through, and they were able to see a brighter day.

We pray that this book will guide and provide you with the tools that you need to overcome the struggles that you have been dealing with.

What Are Emotions and Feelings
Emotions are the one thing that all humans have in common. Just the same, emotions are extremely difficult to explain and understand. In this section, we will go into great depths in explaining and exploring the different elements that make up emotions. In these attempts, we aim to allow for a better understanding of what emotions are and how we can better cope with them.
We dive first into this exploration by asking, What exactly are emotions?
This is a question that has been in circulation for many centuries.
The dictionary defines emotion (n) as: an instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstance, mood, or relationships with others.
