We came across your work through your recently published “The Being Human Collection,” a series of four interconnecting books that use metaphor and story to help readers navigate mental health issues they may be experiencing. Can you tell us what led you to produce these books?
They were primarily informed by my work as a Clinical Psychologist. In working with clients over the last 17 years, I have regularly witnessed the powerful role of story in teaching psychological concepts. Story and metaphor have unique ways of reaching and resonating with us. Relating other people's experiences to our own lives helps us to normalise and accept our own difficult experiences. I therefore wanted to use this style of writing to share these teachings in a simple, but powerful way.
