About this ebook

When Jesus was standing before Pilate to receive his sentence to be crucified, Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?”

Many people are asking that same question: What is the truth about God’s promise of prosperity to man? Although God called me into the ministry at age seventeen with a Bible college education and led churches in the senior pastor position, I feel I have only scratched the surface in knowing God’s word completely. But this book is what God gave me after many years of study and prayer. God’s promise of prosperity is doctrine; therefore it is for everyone who follows God’s recipe. Jesus purchased them for us when he died and rose from the grave. God established us in Christ Jesus, and all the promises of God became not “yes” and “no” but “yes” and “amen” to those who believe. To believe is to make a mental accent and living an obedient life to the law of Christ. Faith works by love. And love is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. This is a special kind of love of a supernatural that enables us to do what we cannot do in our strength. Therefore, all can meet God’s requirement for prosperity in God’s way. It is for everyone who believes.

    Chapter 1

God Really Does Desire to Prosper Man

The first thing we need to establish is, Does God want to prosper man? How does He want us to prosper? We must prosper in partnership with God. This book will only allude to the prosperity of the wicked. The primary message is the prosperity of believers. Third John 1:2 says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospireth. You cannot get any better than to prosper financially, have the health to enjoy it, and prosper spiritually in our walk with God. Ecclesiastes 5:19 says, Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God. I have been told by some very wealthy people, due to worry over losing their wealth, they are reduced to eating baby food. That is all their stomach can tolerate.

Psalm 12:1–3 says, Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth forever. The fear of the Lord is to have awe respect and reverence for God, coupled with a holy hatred for sin. Some keep God’s commandments simply as a necessary thing for survival. Their hearts are in the world. They keep God’s commandments because they have been taught that is the right thing to do, and it is. But they have not learned to love and delight in God’s commandments as David said in Psalm 119:97–100, 103–104: O how love thy law it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth. Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

One past president of the United States of America said that a man with a thorough knowledge of the Bible is smarter than a man with a college degree. For a moment, it seems David was bragging; but instead, he was giving the credit to God through His commandments and emphasized the essentialness of the right attitude toward keeping God’s commandments. David said through (God), through thy commandments. Afflictions are every Christian’s companion. We all endure these. And when they come and go, we want to still be standing. David was no stranger to afflictions. He said in Psalm 119:92, Unless thy law had been my delight, I should have been perished in my afflictions. The gospel promises prosperity, both materially, spiritually, and in health. But all of God’s promises are in Jesus Christ. Second Corinthians 1:20 says, For all the promises of God in him (Jesus) are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. God responds to faith. Faith is not just making a mental assent. The devils do that and tremble. You cannot separate faith from obedience.

Proverbs 24:3–4 (AMP) says, Through skillful and godly wisdom is a house (a life), a home, a family is built, and by understanding it is established (on a sound and good foundation), and by knowledge shall it’s chambers (of every area) be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Godly wisdom, understanding, and knowledge that God develops in us through His commandments and a true relationship with Christ will enable us to prosper in our life, our home, and family. Once again, the gospel bears repeating. The gospel promises prosperity, both in material, health, and spiritual; but they are not all unconditional nor separate from Jesus Christ. They are found only in Christ. There are approximately thirty-three thousand biblical promises that are provided for mankind by Father God. Romans 3:30 says, Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision (Jesus) by faith, and uncircumcision (gentiles) through faith. Paul said in Romans 3:28, Therefore we conclude that a man is justified (righteousness imputed to him) without the deeds of the law. We are saved and brought into the kingdom of God by faith alone in Jesus Christ. After we are born again into the kingdom of God, works then begin. James 2:17 says, So faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (in itself). After salvation, you cannot separate faith from works (obedience). They are inseparable. Obedience confirms faith. Believing is the verb tense of faith. It is an action word unless we act on the word. It is merely mental assent. It is merely hearing and not doing.

Isaiah 48:17–18 (AMP) says, Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way that you should go. Oh, that you had hearkened to my commandments! Then your peace and prosperity would have been like a flowing river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea. What did God say? God first redeemed Israel from the bondage of Egypt, from the power of Pharaoh. Then He taught them to profit and led them in the way we should go. Pharaoh was a type of Satan, Egypt was a type of the world (or sin). When we are born again (our spirit is reborn), we no longer belong to us; we belong to God and begin to hear and obey God’s teaching and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us the way God wants us to go. Peace and prosperity will follow our lives. When I was a new believer, I had not learned yet how to pray for the leading of the Lord. The Lord was leading my life, and I didn’t know it. In hindsight, I now can see that the Lord was carrying me before I learned to walk. God closed some doors and opened others. God has met every need of our lives. It seems like God chases us down to bless us and is always ahead of us in meeting some needs before we know the need is there. God has always shown up when we have a need and meet it. And we are faithful to give praise, thanks and the glory to our God. I believe this is most important to always remember to give God thanks. Remember when Jesus cleansed the ten lepers, only one stopped and came back and said thank you. Jesus asked where were the other nine. It is very important to give God the glory when He meets our need, whatever it is, whether it is large or small and should result in us living a holier life. Surely, I have given enough scripture to convince us that the gospel teaches prosperity and to be in health even as our soul prospers. Or we can go on a little further and mention a few promises for positive proof.

    Chapter 2

How and What Way Does God Desire to Prosper Man

Deuteronomy 28:1–2 says, And it came to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth, and all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee. If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. As we analyze chapter 28 of Deuteronomy, in the first fourteen verses, we must not overlook some established principles God had put in His Word. Let us look at a few of these. There is a permissive will of God, and there is a perfect will of God. Obedience to the perfect will of God will get the highest and most perfect blessings of God and rewards. Obedience to the permissive will of God will be accepted by God but at a reduction of His blessings and rewards. Let us find some scriptures for truths.

Up to 1 Samuel 8, Israel had the God of universe as their King who was the Creator of the universe with unlimited power and perfect in love, compassion, mercy, and justice. This King had all power in heaven and earth to meet all Israel’s needs. All the King (God) asked was for their allegiance to Him. Israel said to give us or make us a king to judge us like all the nations (1 Samuel 8:5). God told Samuel to go ahead and give them a man, for this was not God’s perfect will for Israel; it was God’s permissive will. God permitted it but at a cost to Israel, for in 1 Samuel 8:11–18, God told Israel, "This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over fifties; and will
